Announcing the 2012-13 Prediction Contest

URI opens its 109th season against Norfolk State on November 9 and with it Dan Hurley, URI's 19th head basketball coach, ushers in a new era of Rhody basketball.
And it is now time to launch the Fifth Annual Prediction Contest.

PRIZE

$100 gift certificate to Mews Tavern.

PREDICTION COMPONENTS :

Each participant will make a prediction composed of four parts.
1. Regular Season Record (based on 29 games)
2. A-10 Conference Record (based on 16 games)
3. A-10 Tournament Record or DNQ (does not qualify)*
4. Winner and score of final game versus UMass at Ryan on March 9**.

* The A-10 is now comprised of 16 teams and the first 12 teams will be invited the Barclay’s. So this year, four teams will not qualify.
** Winner, score, margin of victory and total points will be used to determine the winner of this part of prediction.

If two posters submit identical bids in all four parts, the time of submit will determine which one becomes official and the second poster will be asked to re-submit.

BONUS QUESTION

A new feature this year outside the main contest is to name the Rams’ leading scorer during the regular season and his final Points-per-Game (PPG) average. The winner receives a $25 Mews gift certificate. In order to avoid ties, the PPG prediction must be made to two decimal places. Also, if the winner of the Prediction Contest also wins the bonus question, the $100 Mews gift certificate will be doubled.

DEADLINE

The deadline for submitting a prediction is Thursday, November 8, Midnight. This gives participants the opportunity to see the Rams play an exhibition game versus the Coast Guard Academy. This thread is home where all predictions must be submitted. The contest is only open to bona fide URI fans.

You guys crack me up. I dont see referring to someone as The Serbian or The Serb as demeaning or offensive. I think I am just on a really tight leash with some of you here, but arent you being a wee bit nit-picky? I mean, lighten up just a tad.

To clarify THE SERB, means Nikola Malesevic.

You know, the 6-7 guy who plays on the wing. #23, from Serbia. Hope that is a clear and an acceptable explanation.

He is going to avg 14.49 pts a game.
