ACC conference tourney to NY?

Unread post by rambone 78 »

Just read on espn.com that the ACC tourney is seriously considering a move to either MSG or the Barclay's in a few years.

They prefer MSG, at least right now. Depends on whether MSG can boot the BE out when the time comes. Could happen, if the BE doesn't meet their expectations. They are also saying that UConn is being considered for the 16th ACC team, which I guess isn't anything new. If they can override BC's no vote it will probably happen.

Whatever happens, I get the feeling the A10 will be left out in the cold at some point. If the ACC were to move to the Garden, then the BE might take the Barclay's. The A10 can't compete with either.

I could see the A10 tourney in either Virginia or NC some day. The league is becoming dominated by Southern teams anyway.

The A-10 tourney should go back to Atlantic City if they lose the venue at Barclays.....I prefer having casinos to spend my non-basketball time in during the tournament...gambling, free drinks, reasonable food prices, entertainment choices....

The Atlantic City venue is a DUMP!!!!!!!! Leaky roof, cavernous, out-dated, outmoded…..It's only a leftover set for "Boardwalk Empire!!!!"
The only place that had max-crowds, plenty of all-around enthusiasm, and any resemblance to college basketball at its best is when the A-10 tourney was at the University of Dayton! (And everyone knew the problem with THAT.)
GIVE ME BROOKLYN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the ACC is to go to NYC, then they are selling-out their Southern-based souls.
If the A-10 goes any further south than D.C., well, ……...

Hold the A10 tourney at Mohegan. THAT would work for us URI fans. At around 10,000 seats, about the right size too.

They have the hotel space right there. They have all the gambling, drinks, restaurants, and shopping there too.

The casino would make a fortune. The fans could lose a small fortune. [I can't gamble there, because I work there, but I can do everything else].

Too bad for Al. UMass-Lowell would have been perfect, no move necessary for him.

He really is getting the stiff end of the shaft when it comes to getting another D1 coaching job.

He's probably got a Bob Ryan voodoo doll in his home, full of pins every chance he gets.
