ZZZZZ ... Who was the player years ago from Delaware, supposed to be the state's top player and was an instant bust at URI? Tony someone? He weighed about 100 pounds.

When I saw the title of this new thread, I thought he had some info.

Nah. Delaware's a long shot. Not the worst choice, but not near the top of the list.

I think Siena comes on board at some point, but not if the BE decides they want them first.

Tony Tucker. Great shooter, who averaged 18 ppg at Delaware for his
career after he left here.
Delaware isn't bad. Too bad Elena Della Donne is graduating.
Talent and looks. If she went to UConn as she planned, they'd never have lost
a single game in four years.

Yeah, that program doesn't rebuild, they reload.

Maybe they will fall off some after Gino retires, but not much. He's not leaving any time soon.

A bad year for the women, is only top 10.

After the top 5 teams or so, there's a huge dropoff in talent in the women's game. What Louisville did this year, is unusual, very unusual.

I don't root harder against any team in any sport than I do against UConn women. Not PC, not the Steelers, not the Heat, and not even Phil Mickelson.

Aw, you don't like Phil the Thrill?

As for Tiger, I'm a fan. Of his golf, not the man himself. How Lindsay Vonn can believe him when he says he's changed, is beyond me.

In spite of himself, he's going to retire the best player in the history of the game.

My favorite player growing up was Arnie. Talk about a fan favorite. Should have won at least 5 more majors, but his hard charging style cost him many times. Tiger's the master of playing safe with a lead.

above link and specific mention below:
"Two men’s programs from Delaware’s conference, the Colonial Athletic Association, reached that hallowed Final Four destination – George Mason in 2006 and VCU in 2011. Both later parlayed those into moves to a higher-profile league for basketball, the Atlantic 10, with VCU moving this year and Mason following next year.

With the constant movement of schools to different leagues that has taken place lately, Ziady was asked if the success of the women’s basketball team could have a similar affect for Delaware. It should be noted that neither Mason nor VCU plays football. Delaware rejected a move to the Atlantic 10 in the early 1990s because, while it was beneficial for basketball, it wasn’t for other sports.

Phil is a yuppie. I love Tiger. Love him.

I don't get why/how people are such tightasses about guys' sex habits. Didn't get it when they hated on Bill Clinton about it, don't get why everyone makes fun of Pitino, and I don't get why anyone cares about Tiger's habits.

It's the nature of the beast nowadays. With the 24 hour sports networks, social media, etc. everyone wants a story. Instant gratification.

Back in the day, you hardly ever heard of athletes' lives outside of the games themselves.

Nowadays, when someone farts, the world knows before they smell it.

Eh, I think it's because he was dating / married to one the world's most beautiful women, they had a child together, and then he was out there banging anything that moved. Given that he's probably made a billion dollars off his image, I think it's fair that the backlash was then severe - Kind of like for completely different reasons, Lance Armstrong got in a bunch of shit for doing something that many other people have done.

Wow!
Tiger Woods is a total fraud. A sociopath.
I LOVE UConn women and Geno Auriemma.
The best in any team sports for consitant excellence
since Wooden's UCLA teams.

Rumor has it, that before the meeting with the tree, Tiger was spending basically every weekend he wasn't playing, in Vegas where he was playing roulette with a different woman each time. And I don't mean the table game either.

I guess when you're rich and famous, you figure you have the right to do anything you want. So he had a trophy wife, he could have any blonde he wanted. Now he's got another one!

It isn't that I think it is OK for a person to cheat on their spouse, it is that I believe people are entitled to their own private lives. I suppose there are things people could do in their private lives that would rise to the level of changing the way I feel about them, but Tiger didn't do any of them. As long as he was with consenting adults, it is his and his wife's problem. It certainly isn't my business.

What fun is it to root for UConn women? They get the best high school players in the country every year, then they shockingly win all of their games. Wow! Impressive. Geno Auriemma is a fraud. He couldn't coach boys middle school.

Anybody that can get a bunch of women to do what he tells them to do, is a magician in my book!

A freaking genius.

On another note, I hear the Bunny House is for sale. That's in Playboy bunny, for 11 million dollars.

I hear Tiger is on his way to the closing as we speak.

Rod, massive blowout. Title No. 8. Absolutely dominant 6 game run. I don't think it would have mattered if they had played Baylor tonight.

How many more will Gino get before he retires?

There's no end in sight.

Does that tie him with Summit?

Geno wants to pass Wooden. He's tied with Summit, but she was around longer (38 years).
Yeah, some fraud. That's why they pay him millions,
and he does what nobody else has done in so short a period of time.
I've tried in the past to get women to buy into the teamwork concept in the workplace,
and it's tough.
What Gino does with 13 women with big egos, every year is truly other worldly.

Well, if that ties him with Pat, you can bet he wants no. 9 real bad. But under the circumstances, with her health issues now, that edge has been taken off their rivalry.

I can see him getting to 10-12 titles.

Let me point out with some ethnic pride,
BOTH winning men and women's coaches in the NCAA basketball

Well, Gino and Calhoun have that similar trait, they can both be hardasses, but their players buy into their system, and it works. Look at the results.

They are the major reason that UConn has all those titles. I'd be happy with one.

There just aren't that many really talented tall women BB players out there.

The few there are, go to the same schools. Where they have a legit shot to win a title.

As I said, Elena Della Donne is a super player.6'5" and very mobile.
She was supposed to go to UConn, but she has a deaf and blind sister, who
she couldn't bear to leave. She left UConn after two days.
Despite missing most of her freshman season, she scored over
3,000 points!
Beautiful girl, too.

URI had Tony Tucker (from Delaware) and Tony Taylor (from Philly). Also, had Terry Pittman from Philly...who eventually transferred out, I believe to Temple.

So it was Tony, Tony, Terry, Pappy, Rusty (Cordua).

Back on the topic, Delaware averages less than 2500 per game and Drexel is even worse at barely 2000. Both show poorer average attendance than the worst two in the A-10 - Fordham and La Salle.
