NCAA Tournament

Unread post by rodfromcranston »

Rams look great tonight!
VCU and Colorado State.
I had CSU in my brackets. Rock solid team.
Very balanced.
I'd love to see Harvard beat New Mexico, even though
it would kill my bracket.

Great execution by Harvard with horrible defense by New Mexico, every time Harvard drove the ball the defense collapsed and they kicked it out for an open 3.

Wow! Temple is beating the crap out of NC State.
I had NC State, based on Temple's recent NCAA history.
Plus NC State had a good run last year.

It's shady, but I'm not sure why some people think Shabazz Muhammad actually being 20, not 19, is that big of a deal as far as what kind of player he'll be. Freshmen basketball players are all over the place with their ages. Look at URI's: Hare turned 20 this past November (same age as Muhammad), and Aaman won't be 19 until next month. Hassan Martin will play his first college game at age 17.

I've got to think Ben Howland is on the hotseat.
As Tom Penders always points out, Howland's players
have done much better in the NBA than at UCLA.

One scene sticks out in my mind.
UCLA winning a game on a last second shot, and Shabazz Muhammed sulking away from
his celebrating teammates, because he wasn't the guy the play
was drawn up for.
Never seen anything like that. He couldn't even pretend to be happy UCLA won.
This is the type of selfish individual no team needs, regardless of talent.

Is VCU playing? According to these clowns, who are shitting their pants over
everything Michigan does, there's only one team on the floor.
It reminds me of when we played Valpo.
According to McGuire, we didn't exist, until it became inevitable
we were going to win the game.

Rod. I remember Nicky Johnson throwing a towel at Jack Kraft when Kraft pulled from a game against UCONN. Fortunately for Johnson, Kraft had his back turned and the assistants missed it, too. I think Shabazz is just expressing what a lot of players feel at that level ... that the game is about him. And if he isn't getting on Sports Center, who cares if the team wins?
A 20-year-old freshman is no big deal. Kids play prep years and repeat years. Fewer come out of hometown high schools.
I remember Gilson DeJesus listed as a 22-year-old freshman at URI. No one bought that for a second.

Ok but Michigan is pretty much dominating this game so far. The media loves VCU. If they could be all over them, they would be.

Ace, I wrote that when it was a close game, and Rafftery was foaming at the mouth
over everything Michigan. The coach's family, the guy delivering papers on a unicycle.
It was as if VCU wasn't there.
Of course, VCU is stinking out the joint, which sucks.

Ugh. This is like watching us against North Carolina. It's like Michigan has seven guys on the floor and they're all bigger, stronger and faster than VCU.

I was thinking the same thing about these announcers. They started praising Michigan before the game started and never quit. It's nice to be a BCS school with flunkies like Rafferty doing the games. He kept saying what Michigan had to do to win. Little mention of VCU.
VCU picked the wrong time to have their worst game of the year. But, they're still my second favorite A10 team.

What's with Kyle Anderson of UCLA ? I've seen him a few times this year and he looks like he is sleep walking. His reputation was that he was going to be the next Magic Johnson. He played for Hurley Sr. in HS, and he was supposed to be one of the top three seniors in the country. What am I missing ?

It was a good run for a lot of mid majors, but the big boys are taking this tourney over now.

LaSalle could win their game tomorrow. Don't think Temple can.

One of the very worst NCAA days ever.
The only team I rooted for to win that did, was Michigan State.
Zags go down to the smug glee of the Jay Bilas types, who only care for BCS
schools.
Butler and Marquette was the best game I've seen in this tourney.
Clarke disappeared at the last part of the game, just as he did against us.
Then CFL wins his 20th.
I wanna puke!

I'm not surprised VCU lost, just surprised they got blown out.

That's what happens when you rely on the 3 as much as they do, though.

They laid enough bricks to build a subdivision. Like we did most nights.

Also surprised SLU got blown out. That Oregon team is the real deal. A 12 seed my ass. Should have been no worse than a 6 or 7.

Marquette has just been lucky twice in a row. Now watch them make the final 4.

A lot of Monday morning qbing about the ducks. I'm sure you had them in your bracket bc you knew they were underseeded. You guys obviously missed the love fest for Shakka pregame; complete with a story about his horse race analogy.

Not true. I've been hearing about Oregon being woefully under seeded for over a week now. It's been all over ESPN radio as well as some local radio with guests talking about the tourney since last Monday. A Major reason why I picked them to go to the sweet 16 (sorry St. Louis).

Indiana will come back in the second half. they might not win, but they'll be there at the end.

LaSalle could win this game. They won't get any farther than the Elite Eight, though. Still, an amazing run for them.

It's going to be our turn soon. Once we do, we need to make it a habit.

Cody Zeller STINKS!
I've watched this guy play at least ten times this year,
and he just doesn't impress.
He's soft, he doesn't finish well, and too many big games, like tonight,
he becomes invisible.
Lasalle looks like crap, and can't handle WSU underneath,
and can't solve the WSU defense.
Rotten night, for a few reasons.
Marquette and Syracuse. Barf!
