SERGEI KOVALEV GOT ROBBED!

Sergei Kovalev just got robbed by the 3 American judges in his fight against Andre Ward!
Kovalev knocked Ward down, bruised and cut his face.
Kovalev didn't have a mark on his face.
All 3 judges gave Ward the decisive 12th round. A round Kovalev easily won.
HBO judge Harold Letterman has Kovalev winning 8 rounds to 4.
The most surprised person on the announcement of the decision was Andre Ward, who before looked like he'd just lost his best friend.
This is why people have turned off to boxing.
A disgraceful night all around.

I didn't see the match, but my Twitter timeline lit the fuck up with basically the same stuff you're saying. Seems like most think the result was bogus.

Bad enough HBO boxing announcers treat him as if he just came down from heaven,
and openly root for Ward.
Then Max Kellerman went against the Hall of Fame Judge, Harold Letterman,
whose scorecard gave Kovalev and easy win.
Boxing is filled with legendary bad decisions, like Hagler-Leonard.
This travesty last night, ranks with the worst of them.
As I said, even Ward was shocked.

I am about as big a boxing fan as there is. When I was a little kid in the 80s I used to stay at my grandparents house sometimes on Friday nights and me and my grandfather would watch Friday Night Fights. He was an amateur fighter for a while in New Haven and he would teach me all about what was going on. So I say all that just to show why I love boxing so much.

With that all said, Rod is exactly right about why people are so turned off to boxing now. You have stuff like last night where guys just get totally robbed by judges. Or even worse sometimes, when you finally get two big time fighters to agree to fight each other they spend 12 rounds dancing around afraid to try and hit anybody. Collect their checks and move on.

They need to find a way to figure it out and fix it. I don't know what the answer is, but if they don't find it then it's going to just get worse.

I still want my money back for the Paquiao-Mayweather farce. $100.00 down the toilet.
Ward didn't want to fight, either.
All he did all night was clinch and try to wrestle Kovalev, after Kovalev decked him.
The look on Ward's face between rounds, all night, said it all.
Just a rip off.

I find now that the non-PPV fights on HBO are usually way better. Guys who are fighting their asses off for the chance to get one of those big PPV pay days. I'm still a sucker and buy every fight anyway though.

Yeah, very true, I've done that from time to time for some of the lesser PPVs. But sometimes I just want something I know is going to work and won't have any issues.

I think it's easier to do with the UFC fights which I usually use it for ... Run the streams during prelims to test for quality. If the stream blows figure out if it's worth to pay for it (which I usually don't do). Rarely have a problem, ran the whole UFC 205 basically interruption free last week, maybe a 3-5 second lag every 15 minutes.
