Anyone in this forum like Bruins hockey??

Unread post by rhodyfan3 »

Playoffs start tonight! Bruins vs. Leafs. Bruins are the favorite on paper but I think this can be a tough series. Hopefully Claude can use his lines effectively. I have not been happy with the way he has put together his lines as of late.

I have made some lines I think can be effective. Open to any comments or thoughts!
LW-C-RW
63-37-19
17-46-68
49-23-18
20-11-22

Offense needs to score goals and the defense cannot have anymore mental lapses. Rask is the X factor. I think he is ready to lead us on a run, but we will have to see how he performs. Anyone have any thoughts?

Twisted that's awesome. Good game to be at. I had tickets to game 1 as well but I have a final on Friday so I sold them and bought game 2 instead. Hopefully it's the same result!

I'm not a huge hockey fan, but NHL games are always a blast to go see in person. One of the best live sports to watch in my opinion.

Hockey is such a great game that is:
1. Horribly run by the NHL
2. Benefits greatly by understanding the nuance of the sport
3. Is fantastic to watch live or on HD tv. Standard definition television is unacceptable to watch the game in.

Wish I sacrificed my grade on the final and went Wednesday lol. Awful game. Bruins played horrible. No energy, no defense, and the offense is stagnant. I wanna see some line changes but knowing Claude we probably won't see them.

I followed the NHL since there were only six teams.
Loved Bobby Hull and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Now there are 3,000 teams in places like Florida and San Jose.
Still, playoff hockey may be the most exciting post season in sports.
I root for the Bruins these days, but their lousy power play makes them
sometimes frustrating to follow.
I like that they got Jaromir Jagr. He reminds me of the glory days of
Mario Lemieux and the Penguins.
Lemieux is the best player I ever saw. If he didn't have to battle cancer and other
physical problems, no record ever would have been safe.

No, he was toward the end of his career in Detroit.
It was a great time for hockey.
The Providence Reds were terrific, and could have competed in today's NHL.
Eddie Giacomin was their goalie.

There power play has been abysmal the past couple of years to say the least. For a team as good as they are they need to capitalize on their power play more often. I loved the Jagr pick up, he can bring many things to the table even at the age of 41.
Can't watch too much of Game 4 tonight, got a big final tomorrow. Hopefully they can win easily and I won't miss much!

I want D1 URI Rams hockey, that's what I want.

Unacceptable that this continues to not happen.....recent URI club teams were ready to make the jump immediately and play competitively. We won the national championship for goodness sake!!

Hello!

We could be a national powerhouse in 3 years....

Yale and Quinnipiac in national championship game?

I agree with you here, I dont get why we dont go D1 in hockey. Drop football and add hockey if its a financial issue.

That was awesome. Took a break from studying to catch the 3rd period and overtime. Taking a 3-1 series lead is huge. Hopefully they close them out and can rest for the penguins/islanders winner. (Most likely the pens).

only face pens if all 4 top seeds win, NHl reseeds after the first round.

if Ottawa beats Montreal we get the winner of NYR/WAS
if Ottawa and Islanders both win it depends on the NYR/WAS series (Islanders if NYR win, Senators if WAS wins)

I didn't turn it off but I lost some faith. What a comeback! They should have put it on net all series! The goalie played well but he left way too many rebounds all series even if the bruins shot glove side. Rangers series is going to be a tough one. I can see that going 7.

Amazing ending. All these OT games show why NHL playoffs are so
exciting.
Now, can someone tell me why Andy Brickley is SOOOOO critical of
Jaromir Jagr? He slams him constantly.
Is he jealous, because any two of Jag's seasons equaled Brickley's
career goal and point totals?
It's not even subtle. Just a negative remark seemingly every time Jagr is on the ice.

I didnt turn it off because I was hoping to see some fights at the end but once they got the goal to make it 4-2 I was a slight believer that htye could pull it out but that was way more than anythign real. My son woke up this morning and asked me if the Bruins really won because he said he thought he was dreaming!

One thought did cross my mind at the end, I now know how Stnaford fan's felt.

I think he's critical of Jagr because he was suppose to help the offense and since coming to the Bruins he has 2 goals and 11 assist in 18 games and the offense looks flat other than the last 2 minutes and OT last night

Expecting a 41 year old to carry the offense, like he could in his prime, is absurd.
Why not criticize Seguin, who's the biggest tease in Bruin's history? Or Marchand, who's
done next to nothing in the playoffs?
At least Jagr put some shots on goal. This team seems to want to pass side to side, rather than
attack the goal. Nobody stands in front of the net, except Lucic.

If the Bruins don't attack the net, they won't beat Lunquist enough to win the series. If he sees the puck, he stops it.

They only play like that at times, especially when they're desperate, like they were at the end last night. It won't work against the Rangers if they continue to do that.

Jagr's reputation in the game isn't that great, IIRC, because he's taken plenty of big paychecks over the year and given back questionable effort. I imagine that might be why a former player is rough on him, even though at this point he's just a 40+ year old roleplayer.

22 years of over 30 goals, 3 times over 50, once 62.
681 goals and 1007 assists. 3 times over 120 points.
This despite being away from the NHL for three seasons.
Only five out of 20 years with negative +/- numbers.
Five time scoring champion. NHL MVP on a team with the great
Mario Lemieux. 118 game winning goals, most in NHL history.
NHL champion, Olympic champion, and European champion.
One of the all time greats.
That former player couldn't carry Jagr's jock strap.

So tonight we saw jagr on a different line. He's really struggling. As dull and boring as the NBC sports network guys calling the game were they were right about one thing, he needs shorter shifts. He is old and he can't be going full speed for a long duration. He also holds on to the puck too long in my opinion and needs to stay on his feet. I realize his age, so I give him some breaks, but he's gotta play better.
Good to see Marchand score, they have to get him going.
Krug looked solid tonight, along with the 2 other rookies. As long as they play mistake free and clear the puck we will be okay.
I hope we can take both in Boston. The rangers are a very good team, we need to take the games on our home ice.
Would love to hear anyone else's thoughts if they tuned into the game tonight.

Jagr has huge gambling problems, which may preclude his retiring.
I'm always amazed when a guy like Jagr and Wiggles Walker of the Celts, piss
through 100 million dollars made in their careers.
Cat Mobley has made 67 million. I wonder if his potentially life threatening
comeback attempt is due to money problems?
Again, slamming Jagr for shortcomings due to age, is crap.
Would these same people expect Barry Bonds to produce giant numbers if he came back,
in his 40"s?
There's a reason why you don't see many professional players (except a non
contact sport like golf) in any sport, past their late 30's.

Saguin is a big tease. Shows flashes of brilliance and periods of mediocrity.
Doesn't like contact, which is not good in hockey.
He'll never play center in the NHL, because of that.
Funny, somebody was asked what player would be closestr to Saguin, if
he reaches his potential.
The answer was, Phil Kessel! A speedy goal scorer, who ducks contact.
Love the way Krug has stepped in, bigtime.

It's just like in The Mighty Ducks 3, how Charlie Banks had to learn how to play two-way hockey. That's really what his gruff coach was trying to impart on him, to get him to step up and to become a leader, but it took a couple montages and the return of Gordon Bombay for him to really understand it.
