Plot the decline against certain other programs to see where the money has gone. It's not like tax vevenue is declining.

Thanks for posting RF1
I was surprised that all 50 State Universities have had a reduction, not a single school with an increase over the period from 1980 to 2015 - a period of 35 years
47 states decreased from a high of 69.3% for Colorado to 21.0% for Arkansas with URI 5th most drop of 62.7%. Pretty consistent decline from Colorado to Arkansas but then the gap from #47 Arkansas to the #48 School is big from 21.0% to only 7.5% for Illinois. North Dakota dropped a similar 7.5% and Wyoming the least at 6.0%. Could North Dakota and Wyoming have had the lowest drops because of Oil and Gas Drilling in their states?

Surprised Illinois is among the lowest with such a disastrous budget situation there.

Seems odd that all State Schools would have decreased by so much.

What always surprised me it Rhode Island support for K-12 (Primary and Secondary Ed) is among the highest. Most of the money for K-12 is raised at the city and town and property tax level. But not all, as cities like Providence receive a lot of state money.
So, in an environment like we have in RI, with little State support for its flagship University, it is amazing that the State can find money to buy and fix the Dunk, fund McCoy Stadium, and maybe even a new PawSox ballpark.

It is very hypocritical on the part of the state to fund sports venues for private entities in the state while reducing academic support for its flagship public university and refusing to fund more modest athletic facility improvements at URI. The state kicked in some 10 million to renovate McCoy Stadium in the late 90's, fully funded the the 100M+ purchase and renovation of the DDC for the P-Bruins and PC, and may once again for the 2nd time fund another stadium project for the PawSox in less than 20 years. Did you see where the new venue to be owned and operated by a quasi government board in Chicago got Depaul to contribute 70M to its construction? Why did something like that not happen in a cash strapped state like RI?

DePaul is splitting the cost. In RI PC gets it for free.

41st is an embarrassment and yet still better than I'd have guessed. This should be a scandal, front page news in the projo. Anyone want to venture a guess as to whether the local media treats it that way?

Also, spending funding/student in RI is higher than Funding/student at URI. CCRI and RIC get a higher % of their funds from the State.
