Went to the Guild in Pawtucket for the first time tonight - Cool space, lots of open room to move around. Wash Ashore was doing a tap takeover, so we tried three of their beers - Buddha, Love and Mona. The first kind of tastes like a light beer (Keystone Light, Narragansett) with a hops finish to me, but the other two were pretty tasty. Mona had a strong hops taste - crispy, fruity, refreshing - and the Love was just a solid ale. They also had the Narragansett porter there, which was a perfectly average porter to me.

Another new brewery opening up, this time in Warwick. Beautiful Disaster. They apparently already have the license which is a big hurdle. So we shall see what comes of it.

I am not sure of the time frame but if I were to guess sometime in the late summer.
It's going to be at 40 Minnesota Ave (behind the Balise Dealership) at the Single Source Disaster Recovery Specialist Building.

I'm putting this here because I know there are several posters in the Boston area, so local to us. If mods think this should be it's own thread, let me know and I'll create one. Here's a list of Boston area (well a couple are between Boston and Providence) who's beer I enjoy. Some breweries I've been to, and some I haven't. In no particular order:

Lord Hobo (Brewery in Woburn, restaurant in Cambridge, kind of in between Kendall and Central Squares, closer to Kendall).
Aeronaut (Somerville, between Porter and Union Squares)
Bog Iron (Norton, MA - closer to Providence than Boston)
Craftroots (Milford, MA - closer to Providence)
Trillium Brewery (3 locations - Canton, MA, Fort Point in Boston, and Roslindale. Plus in the summer they have an outdoor beer garden on the Green Way.
Down the Road (Everett, MA)

I'm also dying to try:

Lampligher
Night Shift

Finally, has anyone been to

Dorchester Brewing Company? I'm wondering if they are affiliated with Sam Adams at all. Sam is pretty close by I think.

Used to travel to El Paso for work a lot and BJ's was one of our 'go to' places.
Always seemed to have a good variety of beer and pretty decent food, too.

Idle Hands in Malden makes some great beer as well. Visited their tap room once, they mostly made traditional German, Belgian and British beers but have started producing more American styles such as NE IPAs. Very nice little tap room and patio when the weather is warmer.

If you are in Boston, two MA breweries will open off site taprooms downtown. Night Shift will have a tap room in the basement level of the Converse HQ building next to the TD Garden (on the water between Zakim and N Washington St bridges. It is planned to be open by late 2018. The Boston Beer Co (Sam Adams) will open in the summer of 2019 at 60 State Street near Quincy Market.

Yeah! Interested to try that one, since it is near work. We went to Providence Brewing Company this weekend - pretty good, I especially liked their stout and blood orange beer. It's oddly hidden though. It's in the basement of a plaza next to a McDonald's, with no exterior sign. It is there, though.

I went to the opening night of this place. I thought the beers were solid. Nothing tremendous, but nothing bad. They had 7 on tap. Mostly IPAs/Pale Ales. I thought the beers were all well done (I tried 6 of the 7). Prices are high (7 or 8 for 12oz pour), but it is Newport so I guess it is expected. Still, its a bit pricey when you can go to Tilted & get 5$ pours. I would like to think since it is at a winery that they will be experimenting with wine barrel aged beers.

Went back again because I was in the area & looks like they moved from 12oz pours to pints on most of their beers, so that is a bit more reasonably priced.

Beer on Earth opened up a few weeks ago in the Great Harvest Bread Co space next to AT&T on 6670 Post Road, North Kingstown. Guess it works out that Great Harvest is open until afternoon then the store reopens with brewery service. Beers were pretty tasty for an opening weekend, as far as RI breweries I've really only been wowed from the beginning by Buttonwoods - even Long Live took a little while to hit their stride.

Seems like all the beers are really to style, so if you are worn out by non-stop NEIPAs you can enjoy a good porter, saison, berliner weisse, etc. here.

Hadn't been to Whalers in a while...went this past weekend. The Monchito was interesting...pretty good, wouldn't call it a sour tho...more coconut than sour. It actually still retained a lot of beer characteristics, despite the pina reference.
Monchito
Limited, 5.0% ABV
This tart, pina colada inspired sour ale honors its namesake with a rich tropical aroma followed closely by a juicy pineapple body and lingering coconut finish.

They mixed that and the Strawberry Blond for me (he called it Miami Weiss) and that was pretty tasty. A good changeup from NEIPA to be sure...

For those in the Boston area, I went to Turtle Swamp Brewing in Jamaica Plain. Their Tollgate IPA was pretty good and the space is good as well. No food, but you can bring in take out. Parking is difficult however. Street parking is available, but it's a high traffic area so you may have to walk some. I didn't find out if Tollgate had any relation to the high school in Warwick.

From the Valley Breeze article:

Pawtucket, with more than 10 breweries now in operation, “is a good place to be,” he said, and it’s a city that’s very supportive of the brewing community.

What are the ten breweries? Are all the breweries using the Guild included in this number?

I know of these Pawtucket brewing sites:
Foolproof
Crooked Current
The Guild

The Guild actually brews specialty beers for Narragansett, Night Shift, Newburyport, Wash Ashore, Farmer Willie's, Devil's Purse, Great North, and Monopolio. My assumption is that these eight plus Foolproof and Crooked Current make the current ten in the Valley Breeze piece. Smug's opening will bring it to eleven beer labels with some operations though there will be just four brewing facilities.

They are definitely counting the guild as individual breweries, which makes no sense at all.

Went to Beer on Earth and liked it. Their sour was initially called "Donut Shop," which made no sense to me, but the other six or seven beers they had on-tap, I really liked. Likewise, we made it to Beer'd in Stonington and liked the two pints we had - only made it there about 15 minutes before they closed, so we couldn't really do a full tasting. Providence Brewing Company was good as well, especially the blood orange beer.

The girlfriend and I aren't huge fans of the super hoppy beers, so Buttonwoods and Crooked Current are probably are current favorite breweries. That being said, Tilted Barn is still taste and distinct enough that we like it fine. Haven't been to Taproot yet - checking it out next week - but a friend had a four-pack with their base IPA that we split and enjoyed.

Lol, Donut Shop sounds way more like a coffee than a sour, but they probably have a neat story behind it.
I like Crooked Current, too. Tilted Barn, haven't been to in a while. Even though it's really close by, as Yogi would say, "it's so crowded no one ever goes there anymore."

Exactly. Jack's Abbey moved to a warehouse about 1/2 mile away (maybe less as the crow flies). They also opened Sprindale Barrel Room upstairs from Jack's Abbey. We were at Springdale as well last night. Fun place, with tables, and plenty of games inside. Jack's Abbey also has good food that you can order at Springdale as well. If you're in Framingham, that's a good 3 brewery mini pub crawl (get a designated driver though lol).

Stopped by Treehouse in Charlton last Friday afternoon. Had to wait in a line of hundreds for half an hour for the opportunity to buy their product. Only can sales as there was no draft pouring (very limited hours) or growler refills.

Treehouse continues to have issues keeping up with the crowds and demand for its product. Many visitors are being forced to park at the lower lot and walk or shuttle bus up a long steep incline to the facility. To be able to handle the crowds, hours have been restricted for draft pouring and growler refills. In order to have enough supply to meet demand, there is a maximum purchase limit (approx 5 cases). From my vantage point, it looked liked about 1/3 of their customers buy the max. With can prices that range from the mid $3 to around $5, they must be doing very well revenue wise.

Beautiful facility. Had a very nice outdoor pavilion with seating that had a pizza oven. People were saying they have outside entertainment there. Nice spot for food and drink for the very limited hours the pavilion is open.
