Not sure that Trump will get the nomination.

Either Cruz or Rubio will drop out at some point.

The remaining guy could give Trump a run.

I hope that Cruz drops out. He's too radical for my tastes. Rubio, even with his own issues, is the best of the Repubs.

Clinton still has the email mess hanging over her head. How the hell could this country elect her with that deal going on?

Worst group of candidates in a long long time.......

There are rumors that Biden is still in play.

He has to commit soon though I would think.

On the Dem side, other than Hill O'beans, Bernie and Biden are close to 150 years old between them.

That's a one term presidency if I ever saw one.

Sorry, I don;t believe I'm wasting my time.
I care about the world my daughter and granddaughters will be living in.
I've slogged up and down streets in New Hampshire, meeting people,
and donating money for someone I believe in.
Not the lesser of evils, but a real forward looking leader.
We can do so much better than tRUMP.
tRUMP is a fat, old, senile, lunatic.
He's gotten 60 million dollars in free media time, and 72% of campaign coverage.
My dog would be leading if he had that exposure.
We are at war with ISIS. Whoever is in the White House had better
have an idea about foreign policy.
tRUMP does not know Cuds from Kurds or Hezbollah from Hamas.
Nor does he know what the TRIAD is.
He has yet to put one policy in writing.
He is a big govt. liberal, who the media loves, because he's got
60% unfavorables with the overall voters in this country.
He will be easily beaten by their girl Hillary Clinton
So while polls show Marco Rubio beating Hillary,
NO poll has shown tRUMP beating her. In fact he'loses to Bernie by double digits.
So for all of you who don't get it, I'll spell it out.
78% negatives with Hispanics, 80%^ negatives with Blacks,
68% with Asians, 54% with women.
So, what's his base? Angry white uneducated men? DOA in November.
He has the mentality of a 14 year old girl on PMS.
Sorry, he could start WWlll because,"Putin is mean to me!"
He can't deal with Megyn Kelly and people want him to deal
with Putin? Putin will chew him up and spit him out.
Rubio offers a positive vision of America.
He's one of us.
He talks about student loans, diversity, and living paycheck to paycheck.
How can a man who never worked in his life, whose
father made him "A small loan" of a million dollars,
possibly relate to any of the electorate?
This is not a reality show.
This is about the kind of country we want going forward.

Rod, I agree with you that Trump won't win the White House.

He might win the Repub. nomination though.

That would indeed, leave Bernie as President. I don't think Hillary can win either, even though the powers that be are trying to squash a possible indictment.

I don't want Cruz either. No tea bagger for me. He's as scary as Trump imo. The middle class and the poor would riot.

Bernie vs. Rubio makes sense. I hope that's the choice we have in November.

Otherwise, Lord help us.

Obama's DOJ isn't going to let Hillary be indicted.
She was his Secretary of State and he cares dearly
about his legacy as he sees it.
You know the Republicans haven't spent much money going
after tRUMP.
Jeb spent 30 million in attack ads on Rubio.
2 million going after tRUMP.
It's like The Twilight Zone this cycle.

TP, I get it.
I was responding to someone saying I was wasting my time.
Yes, Ted Cruz is really scary and really dirty.
I can picture him as Torquemada.

Besides the "my candidate is better than yours," we may actually get some insightful thoughts.

I've heard from two powerful sources that the DoJ and FBI have ALL the emails that Hillary sent from her private email server. Some were reportedly deleted but they were all recovered. They have enough evidence to indict her, but won't because of the political fallout. Sorry, last political post.

Marco's problem and Ted Cruz's problem are the inverse of each other. They would both likely beat Trump head-up, but each is polling too well and has too much cash on hand to consider bailing at this stage, so both are going to stay in and likely neither of them will beat Trump if they do.

They met today in Nevada.
No details.
Cruz fired Rick Tyler, his spokesperson,
who took the fall for the dirty tricks around the Cruz campaign.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in that meeting.
Supposedly they are friends. Not sure Cruz has any, though.

Smarty is on to something.
70% of tRUMP's vote in NH was non GOP.
These open primaries like NH,and SC are a joke.
Lots of room for shenanigans.
It's like when Limbaugh was urging GOP voters to vote for
Hillary in 2008 to stop Obama in open states.
Mass hasn't voted GOP in a general election since 1984.
They won't this year, either.
The Rubio campaign wants our RI team to work the South Shore in MA.
I think it's a waste of time, because no conservative is
going to get many votes in Mass or RI.

Well, let's hope that's when all is said and done, Cruz is the one who drops out and leaves Rubio to challenge Trump for the nomination.

My guess is, Rubio needs to finish a strong second to Trump in the southern primaries coming up.

Like you said Rod, the longer that Cruz and Rubio split their vote, the tougher it will be to stop Trump.

Hopefully that was discussed in their meeting.....

Since RI went to scannable ballots I have written myself in for President every election...RI always goes Democratic so what difference does it make and our minuscule electoral votes don't matter... I will continue to vote this way until they abolish the electoral college system for the Presidency...

I also write in family and friends for those lopsided contests...who wants to be in the 85 or 100% that most local candidates get...this year I will be voting for Rod and Section208 for Congress from RI...

Rod, who's Limbaugh's choice for the nomination? Haven't listened to his show in ages.

I think he's a gigantic windbag, but my guess is Cruz, followed by Rubio.

He [RL] does have a huge following though.

TP, we are periously close to getting that kind of government.....some think Obama is that already, but we can do MUCH worse......

I refuse to listen to the talk frauds.
Levin and Limbaugh have been pimping tRUMP,
and just this week decided he's not a conservative. DUH!
They're slitherin towards Cruz.
Coulter has lost her mind, Ingraham and Hannity are also
tRUMP's latest employees. Morning Joe maybe the worst of all
the fake conservatives.
Fox is trump 23/7. Hannity wants to have tRUMP's baby.
He's got the blowhard on for a full hour of worship services tonight.
People need to turn this garbage off and think
for themselves.

I think people are so fed up with big government, that they are soaking up the drivel that Trump puts out there, whether he knows what he's talking about or not. Which he doesn't.

Yeah he's not a politician. That's what they like.

The more outlandish things he says, the bigger his lead gets.

I think when this whole mess started, everybody though Trump was just a big sideshow, and would disappear when the serious candidates showed up.

How wrong that is so far. The Repub. party is a dysfunctional joke right now. If the Dems themselves had a strong candidate, this wouldn't be anything to worry about.

But the more time passes, the more worried a lot of people are getting. This isn't a joke anymore, it's some serious stuff.

Hopefully sanity will prevail, but what if Cruz gets the nomination? This guy is scary too. He's got some flat out dangerous ideas.

Rubio might be the only hope. Let's hope he stops fucking up, and gets going.

Rod, your man Rubio has to start putting his best foot forward. Get his message out. Just who is Marco Rubio? Most people in this country don't have a clue. They say, well he's a conservative Republican. So what? So is Cruz, although they couldn't be more different in some of their views.

He has a reputation, deserved or not, of being a Waffling Wussy. He backs down when challenged, as Christie did to him before the NH primary.

He has to start getting more aggressive. No more wimping out. Start going after Trump and even Cruz.

He has to call the Bombastic Buffoon's bluff. Time is running out.

got a football scholarship ( he was a CB-WR), got hurt,
got his life together, married a Miami Dolphin cheerleader
and the rest is history.
He's also a very funny guy.

But Ramulous is correct. In RI, for the Presidential election (or any other typical RI unopposed Dem election), any other vote doesn't matter.

Ramulous isn't treating it like a joke. The electoral college system and RI's own strange, predictable elections are already broken and are a bad joke.

He's a very engaging guy, and LOVES his football,
especially the Miami Dolphins.
Said if he gets elected he'll have an executive order to
have Tom Brady retire.
He had a game day football party in NH, and the Pats lost
to the Dolphins.

Any one person treating it the way ramulous does has no impact. Many economists even advocate that nobody should vote because every individual vote is so meaningless that voting is an inefficient use of time. I think that is a flawed way to think about it. If everyone took it as a joke, we would not be able to have a functioning democracy. That any individual vote is statistically meaningless or that the democracy doesn't function exactly as you might think it should aren't good reasons to treat elections unseriously.

Even if my vote will not turn an election - and it likely will not, even at the most local level - I do believe if everyone participated in a serious way we would get something more of us feel better about, so I do it so as to not be hypocrite.

We have the lowest voter turnout in the free world.
Pretty sad.
I once worked with a guy who used to brag that he never voted.
Used to tell him that people died for the right to vote.
Probably just as well someone so uniformed didn't vote.
I feel it's a duty as a citizen of this country to vote and
do it with some idea of who and what you're voting for,
not mindlessly pulling a big lever.

Most people today are VERY uninformed about the choices to be made.

It's either Democratic [read: liberal] or Republican [conservative]. They don't even know who stands for what, or what even makes someone liberal or conservative.

There's no gray area anymore either. When the media brands you one way or the other, that's what people think without actually doing any homework on why.

And everybody gets their "information" nowadays, either from social media, or outlets like CNN or Fox, who themselves have a slanted agenda.

The media used to just report the news. Now they report the news from their point of view, depending on who runs the company.

I've been involved in state and local politics my entire adult life...including working on campaigns at the highest state level...I've been appointed to important positions in state and local government....I've run for political office numerous times....I've never missed voting ever....

.....too often I've voted for candidates that were worse choices than their opponents because of personal relationships with that worse candidate...I'm very pragmatic and I am not a dreamer.....I've learned that an elected officials primary job is to get re-elected....If doing good gets them re-elected they will do it....if doing bad gets them re-elected they do that....

....in every race that is statistically close I vote for a candidate......in every race where my vote holds no meaning I write in someone else for fun......I cannot tell you how many times I have voted for "the Devil" because I would vote for him/her before I would vote for that elected official....

All summer I was talking about donating money to Trump just on the very small chance that I could help prolong the hilarious charade of this imbecile invading a supposedly serious environment and acting like a jackass, saying wild and profane things and forwarding truly insane ideas. I thought we (everyone but Trump) were all in on the same joke, which I thought was at his expense. Republican primary voters have turned out to be even more crazy than I thought.

As a center-left guy who is not excited about any of the candidates on either side, the most important thing to me in this cycle isn't getting any particular person into office, but keeping out any number of people running who I think could legitimately destroy our country. I'm still comforted by the fact that I don't think Trump can win a general, and at least he will take away any chance that people could have voted for a Ted Cruz presidency (who in my mind is even more dangerous than The Donald). But every time Trump wins a primary it is an embarrassment to our country on a global scale.

I am looking forward to the Hillary v Trump debates. Should be entertaining to watch. Guarantees a Democratic victory as there is no way Trump will garnish the 35% or so of the Hispanic vote a Republican needs to win the presidency. I don't see how Rubio and Cruz have any viable path to secure the delegates needed. At best they can try and to split the delegates enough that a brokered convention is needed. Trump will just run as an independent if the nomination is not given to him at the convention. He would probably end up with about a quarter of the national vote if that was the case. He appeals to an economic populous, socially moderate nativist crowd. Basically, the same people who votes for Perot except maybe a little more extreme on certain policies. This Republican primary has been very entertaining for this Democrat.

Yeah, pretty much same here. Early on, I didn't think Trump even really wanted to be President, and was just enjoying the publicity. I'm actually still not convinced he really wants to be, but he is just in too deep at this point.

But I totally agree on Cruz, he is way more dangerous than Trump. Cruz will actually try to do some of the insane stuff he says, I'm not sure Trump actually would.

I used top tell people, "Eh, tRUMP has said he was running, before.
He always backs out before the primaries."
Very wrong this time.
He re-tweets Nazis, white power people, the KKK came out yesterday
in their robes in NV. He threatens people. He has a big record of failure,
he's cheated on his wives, brags about "Not getting STDs was my Viet Nam",
"Guys who get hit with IEDs just go for a little ride.'.
So many things which would destroy any candidate.
Offers not one policy. Guess he has to be elected before
anyone knows what he'll actually do.
Can you imagine this petty, paranoid, narcissistic, man who sues people who disagree with him,
having the power of the IRS, FBI, NSA behind him, to go after his enemies?
Yet, he's never called on anything by fawning media, like Morning Joe or
Hannity.
In fact an open mic heard tRUMP ask Scarborough not to ask any
tough questions.
I never thought our electorate was very bright, but I never
felt they were this blinded to the truth.

Saw a headline in Yahoo where Trump says he loves uneducated people.

Where's Chevy Chase when you need him?
