TP, who gets to decide societies best interest? I guess you believe it's the government that decides. Oh well, I guess that means Trump and an overwhelming Republican government. So I should be good for the next four years. At least.

He only got, what? 84% of the vote last time he ran.
Being an Army Ranger and a paratrooper isn't like being a

This from his bio:
"Following graduation, he spent several years in active duty military service. Reed earned the Ranger Tab and was a paratrooper. He served as a paratrooper in the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division where he was a Platoon Leader, Company Commander and Battalion Staff Officer."

Sure, I enlisted. I was offered West Point and turned it down due to the years of commitment. Does that make me less of a soldier?

I'd be thrilled if republicans acted in society's best interests. They don't, though. Their focus on rolling back environmental and financial regulations and targeting vulnerable populations with draconian social policies is the epitome of the type of myopic and small minded, and ultimately ruinous, policies that you were advocating for on the previous page.

Funny, Jack and I were born on the very same day in the same
hospital.
So, if you believe in astrology, WHAT HAPPENED?
Of course an astrology buff would say, "Well, different times of day."

How does one get "offered" by a service academy?
It's a rigorous application process, with both physical testing and
superior academic exam score/grades as a prior to acceptance
and a nomination of a candidate by a member of Congress in the applicant's state,
or the Vice President of the United States, who can nominate regardless of location..
This also applies to any of their inter-scholastic athletes.

After trump is done, I think it will be a very long time before another republican occupies the White House......

He and his cronies will do so much damage to democracy.....the people will rise up and repudiate him and his party...

Repubs can gloat now, but they will pay and pay dearly down the road.....of course, that's if the American people have any sense left......

But, RB...what if Rhody wins on that first Monday in April, er, I mean...what if the Repubs don't do so much damage...and everything turns out ..not so bad, or even <gulp>..."ok"? I know there are many who seem certain (and almost hopeful?) that won't be the case...but what if it is? ;)

208, do you have any confidence things will work out? I don't......

This guy [trump] will be played like a fiddle by Putin and others....imagine if Muslins end up in internment camps like Japanese Americans were in WW2? I doubt that will happen, but anything is possible nowadays......

If that were to happen, imagine how the terrorism threat will grow, not shrink?

As for Rhody winning the national championship, I would like to think they could.....but seriously?

Just sayin'...anything is possible...would be tough to get though many days with 'confidence that things won't work out.'
I don't think that's the plan for us...

Time to bust out the best of the Mick again!

“Ain't no sense worryin' about the things you got control over, 'cause if you got control over 'em, ain't no sense worryin'. And ain't no sense worryin' about the things you don't got control over, 'cause if you don't got control over 'em, ain't no sense worryin'.”

PS...RB, are you going to be at either game this weekend? (And, yes, I am jealous you got a chance to get to MetLife)

O!M!G! 208, you're willing to wait and see what happens? What's wrong with you?

Here's a popular misconception, a person with 'liberal' views is open-minded and a person with 'conservative' views is closed minded. Of course if you're a pragmatist you're not in line with either so you must be the other.

I'm tired of closed minded 'liberals/conservatives' assuming I'm the other because I'm not gun-ho for either.

Dumacraps think because I'm willing to wait and see before shaming Trump, I must be a Repukelickin. I got the same thing from the Repukes when I didn't condemn the election in 2008.

Here's the other thing about the current spirit of extreme reactions, Idiots willing to take it to the streets for things that haven't happened yet and likely won't happen. Get active about issues, that's great! Be heard, but save it for when the issues are being debated by your representative law makers.

Well, in the 80's, the Army was restricted to recruit only those with a high school degree. No GED was accepted. Bonuses were big. I think I got a $10k sign on bonus. We took an exam, and the top three were offered West Point after a year at Monmouth. The thing was, we all had college under our belts. I had a year at URI and my buddy had 3 years at Michigan. We all refused. They wanted a year at Monmouth, 4 years at the Academy and a 5 year commitment. Too much for us. I was 20, and I couldn't see myself in the military until I was 31.

This is why Putin loves him so much...easily manipulated. Money has to come from somewhere. If corporations don't have to pay taxes, who is going to foot the extra bill? The money has to come from somewhere. "Some" jobs were saved, but at the cost of what is sure to be more taxes for Indiana residents. Money lost from tax incentives needs to come from somewhere. It doesn't grow on trees.

Bobby Valentine as Ambassador to Japan?
Linda McMahon? Retired Generals? (thought they were "s disaster"?)
Ben"I'm not qualified to run anything" Carson.
Fast food CEO, anti-environmentalist, and God knows what next.
Costing US taxpayers millions with his stupid victory tour.
Just wants to have "love me!" rallies, watch TV, and tweet idiocy.
This slob isn't interested in learning all the things he's clueless on.
Missed most of his security briefings.
Denies CIA report of Russia's interfering on US election to aid him.
OUR own intelligence agencies have said the same, and he claims HE knows
they're not telling the truth!
What a horrid joke this clown is.

Clownstick-McFuckface (as John Stewart calls him)
seems enamored with Generals .actual billionaires, and CEOs, instead of
people who know the ropes in different areas.
Ben Carson admitted he wasn't qualified for any
cabinet position (yet was running for President!),
yet tRUMP chose him.
A billionaire for Education, who never went to a public school,
and is against them.
WWE CEO Linda McMahon. Seriously?
Bobby Valentine being considered as an Ambassador!
EPA with a guy who doesn't believe in climate change.
A questionaire for all personnel, to weed out those who might
be climate change believers.
It just gets worse and worse.

From what I've heard, foreign leaders who have talked to trump already, are aghast at his ignorance of world affairs.....

I've had the unfortunate pleasure of having a few drinks with Trump's EPA pick Scott Pruitt. For a long time I thought candidates said crazy things during the elections for their respective bases but didn't really believe it. AG Pruitt is a true believer and ignorant of many things from the environment to consumer protection.

It is important to understand how Trump operates so that you can track what he is really up to. What makes Trump stupid is that he is not intellectually curious and does not value facts and information. But he isn't so stupid that he is earnestly seeking advice from Kanye West.

Trump is a master manipulator of the media and is a virtuoso artist when it comes to manipulating the public, especially the kind of morons that are pacified on celebrity news and gossip about dopes like Kanye West (and Donald Trump, president-elect or not). The Kanye thing was a distraction and an attempt to shift the media narrative away from cabinet appointments that are insulting to the interests of the general public and from growing concern over and opaqueness about his unprecedented conflicts of interest.

JFK had "The Best and The Brightest".
Herr Drumpf has the "Worst and the Dumbest".
Rick Perry, a climate change denier.
Drumpf asked the EPA for all the names of employees who
believed in climate change, in order to weed them out!
The tRUMPSTAPO at work even before the Inauguration!
The first words out of him about Tilleson were,
"He has massive dealing in Russia!"
As Marco Rubio said, "Being a friend of Putin is not a
desirable item for a Secretary of State."
Jack Reed came out yesterday and questioned tRUMP's
motives and if they are in sync with those of the nation.
Says the CIA and 17 US intelligence agencies are wrong and
Putin is right, on interference with a US election.
Anyone think something stinks there?
Athletes and celebrities paraded in and out of tRUMP Tower.
Why? This idiot should be trying to educate himself
on running our country.
Nope! Victory rallies to salve his ego, bringing in people to kiss his ass.
Costing taxpayer millions to do his unprecidented tour,
as well as maintain two places of residence.
His kids running his businesses does in no way
constitute a blind trust.
He presents YUGE conflicts of interests at every turn.
Buckle up, gang. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Rod, we have to hope it's only for 4 years.....what worries me is that the voter manipulation issues that we saw in this election could be magnified multiple times over by then....Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan and their gang don't want to give up power.....and of course trump doesn't either....this could be the tip of the iceberg.....

Fair and free elections are at stake...the very core of our democracy......if that is compromised, than we truly are fucked......

I mentioned this prior to the election, its a known fact that FB and twitter have been caught red handed, deleting specific posts relating to Trump or other political posts. People that I know personally too. Very weird.

This actually isn't a known fact... It's more probable those people you know just don't know how to properly use Facebook. Here is a nice guide for them: http://hothardware.com/news/think-your- ... uess-again

The only stuff the social media giants are playing around with are some of the fake news sites, which I guess for Trump supporters, may actually cause a lot of their posts to disappear.

Are you as concerned about Russia interfering with the election as you are about FB and Twitter "MAYBE" removing political memes?

Kinda funny...my family has been complaining about conservative and evangelical posts being removed for months. Zuckerhead had to meet publicly with folks to deny, then semi-admit. Now, it's a "known fact" and a newsstory that anti-Trump shtuff is being removed? Seriously? So...wha( we're saying is that FB flipped and can't be trusted? The horror...

Ah yes, the Washington Times. We've been down this road before so I won't even bother getting started on that again.

Yep, agreed. It's pointless for all of us to go in circles on this. It's been shown time and time again that you believe tons of fake shit and you still continue to believe tons of fake shit so that clearly won't change and we're all just spinning our wheels.
