Political Discussion

Unread post by TruePoint »

Jim Baron = George Bush
Dan Hurley = Barack Obama

Hopefully Hurley gets this thing turned around faster and less expensively.

(No deeper political discussion, please. I'm just making the analogy about inheriting a mess.)

Rod no political discussions. Only point is that Jim Baron and George Bush both left a disaster. I'm not making a commentary on how well either of their successors are handling the cleanup.

Yeah, I know this is political, but I see where the rich are leaving France at a high rate, because of huge tax increases that are coming.

That might happen here also. What then? The middle class is screwed in this country if it does. The entire country will be on the dole. Yes, I'm a Democrat, but even I have to agree: the out of control spending has to stop!

Taxes are the reason so many British entertainers live in the US.
Wonder where they'll go now?

This is why we can't have nice things, people! My instigating post is going to be deleted, as are subsequent posts that couldn't let it go.

Before I delete, I will just say that taxes are way too low. The wealthiest Americans had much higher marginal rates during the times of notable communists such as Reagan (50%) and Nixon (70%), and paid 91% well into the 60s. Today's rates are irresponsibly low by comparison. I'm pretty comfortable stating that very few people on this board would see their tax bill go up much, if at all, under the democrat's plan. The hysteria about "higher taxes" from middle class conservatives is great evidence of how prolific the right wing media machine is, but it will only effect a very small number of people who can certainly afford it.

This post (and all related posts) will self destruct in 10 minutes. Don't want to totally derail this thread.

I know I'm piling on, but why does the right continue to stonewall the entire legislative process, when the rich THEMSELVES are saying they won't mind paying higher taxes?

Nothing is going to get done in Congress, because the idiots there no longer represent the will of the people. They march to their own ideological agenda. The good of the people be damned.
