this is the link to the first trailer to the Disney movie The finest Hours coming out in Jan.,2016. It is a true story about what has been called the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history. It happened over 60 yrs ago in a noreaster off the coast of Chatham. My dad Andy Fitzgerald is the last surviving rescuer.. Very proud!!

Ram1980,
I went to see the movie today. Excellent.
I can't imagine how courageous that rescue attempt was. Amazing that 32 people were saved from the tanker. I don't know how they all survived the freezing cold and being soaked in cold water. How did your family like the movie? You should be very proud.

Ramster thanks for the kind words. My family thoroughly enjoyed the movie. My dad, mom, my sister and her husband and me and my wife were hosted at the World Premier in Hollywood last weekend and Disney was first class all the way. Amazing experience. Today Cinemaworld in Lincoln let us have a private showing for about 80 people at no charge.. Seeing what my dad did and his reaction to this is it was my job and I did my job gives me goose bumps and makes me realize I take this sports thing way to seriously..

Saw a clip of your dad as he walked the red carpet for the premiere. He indicated the night was almost as exciting as the night of the rescue.

RF1.. We never even knew about the rescue until about 10 years ago when the boat was refurbished and the book came out.. He has always claimed he was doing his job and that's all it was.. Very proud of him..
