While I like the Hurley ideas, it would become an issue if/when he were to leave the program down the road. I think we should stick with something that has more staying power. Of course I hope he does amazing things here and stays forever, but probably not very realistic.

Agreed. I think it needs to be related to the program, not one player or coach (with possible exception of the Great Frank Keaney!)

I would vote for something very simple. You want people to be able to FIND the board using a quick google search as interest in the program starts to rise (hopefully soon). I would suggest something along the lines of "RhodeIslandRams.com" or the current handle of "RhodyRams.com".

I know its a bit played out but rhodynation still seems like a great fit to me, simple yet effective... idk theres a lot of good ideas on here to be honest

I don't think Google is an issue. I just googled Kentucky basketball forums and I got such sites as bluegrasshoops, wildcatnation and trueblueKentucky ....

Iggy is right. The domain name has not much to do with Google search results.

Fair point about the google search. As long as we have enough "Rhody"s, and "Rams", and "Basketball" in the page content it should be easily found by newly invigorated fans.

I do vote strongly against any variant of "nation." That has been so overused over the past 8 years (since '04), that the term is bordering on annoying.

I studied some other board names and came up with another idea... Keaneytribune.com, or KeaneyHQ.com. I think the name should definitely focus on Keaney instead of Rhody

It's certainly not super easy to type... sonsoffrankkeaney, nor does it read very easily. I wouldn't vote for it.

Yeah but who types it? Once you go once, you just bookmark it, no? I probably only type a half dozen wed addresses and dial a half dozen phone numbers per year. 99% of the time I just push the button for what I want.

keaneyblue.com is also good, though. What it lacks in imagination it makes up for in simplicity (in a good way).

sonsofsamhorn has another domain name that redirects to the main forrum .... sosh. You could do the same with sonsoffrankkeaney ...sofk ..... lots of sites do that nowadays.

Yeah the more I hear it and think about it, I would probably say thats my top choice as well.

I like how it's uniquely University of Rhode Island Men's Basketball, yet simple to read, say, type, remember.

Eh, it's weird what sticks and what doesn't in people's mind. For whatever reason, Keaney Blue strikes me as the best option. Heck, the most popular Red Sox discussion board is named after the immortal Sam Horn, so it could be worse. "The Cousins of Jeff Kent, your place for URI hoops!"

People will be able to find the board without knowing who Frank Keaney is. Notre Dame football fans have a board called 'Rock's House.' Not saying Frank Keaney is of the same historical renown as Knute Rockne nationally, but they have similar roles within their respective program's lore. Plus, Keaney Blue is the team's and the school's color; it isn't just the name of a guy who used to coach here. All of the RhodyNation.com and the RowdyRhody.com and stuff just seem amateurish, generic and inauthentic to me. No offense to those who forwarded those names, because they are not terrible, but keaneyblue.com is unique to us and a little "insiderish."

You want the site to make sense to people outside of the regular board, especially as the team gains more and more national notoriety.

Way outvoted by keaneyblue - but as others have said, it's more of an inside name

most people would just search rhode island message board into google and go from there, people aren't to try and type rhodyhoops.com or keaneyblue.com or rhodynation.com. I think the name is more for us as a whole than for people being able to find us
