Former Friar, James Still, Sentenced 4yrs for Savage Assault

I did not realize the injuries to the beaten student were as severe as they were... so disgusting. Glad that's behind the Friars now.

That was a very sad time to be a Friar fan.

You had those guys running around like maniacs, and all throughout that season were reports of fights at bars, etc. between players.

Around that time was the Greedy fiasco as well.

That was about the time I knew Keno wasn't right for the job. Can't have criminals running around campus.

Keno was a disaster. Total lack of control.

Yep, I attribute it mainly to his background. Big difference between mostly mid-western kids who were coached up by your father, and then coming to PC and having to deal with more kids of the inner-city variety. Can't just expect them to control/contain themselves, and he gave them so much freedom like he thought they would mature on their own.

Fact is, a college coach with a lot of underpriviledged kids from tough upbringings (not all but obviously a lot in the upper D1 levels) need to serve as a mentor, role model, father-figure. A lot of these kids won't be able to figure it out on their own without some guidance.

If you just let them go be kids, they will probably find themselves in tough positions and will do more stupid things.

It's even worse for these players who are treated much better than other students and have some level of fame. There's no chance they can deal with that without guidance.
