We have the new athletic center, plus Keaney etc.

There won't be any fancy $20 million "practice" center built at URI for a long time, if ever.

The next big project might be new stands at Meade. Maybe.....
....and that prevailing attitude is why Dan Hurley was able to walk away from "promises" and "commitments" to do that, and walk into a practice facility that physically exists in the real world.

And we are planning to build ours with $5M? I know that using existing space will save money, but geez.

Once again, we can't have a facility like that because when athletics asks for money, people respond with "I pay for tickets." Feel free to clink the link, donate, and be part of the solution:

$7.5 MIL donation by a single donor is tough to come by.

Correct. Since we only have a handful of those type of people, it probably won't happen.

More realistically, if you had 7657 (Ryan Center capacity) people able to give $1000 a year ($19.25 per week) - there's your practice facility.

SFA, with an enrollment of 11k and irrelevant in basketball is spending 26M on a practice facility and URI with 16k enrollment spends 5M? wtf?

Thx for the reminder, BlueMan. Made donation and filed for match tonight.

If others haven’t checked, you should see if your employer offers any kind of partial or full matching. The link BlueMan shared has a search for matching employers.

Richmond's Queally Athletics Center basketball practice facility just opened on October 5th.

URI's practice facility has been pretty much just a dream of something far off in the future. With the financial effects of Covid-19, it is today even further from reality. This will be an ongoing disadvantage when compared to nearly half the A-10 which will have dedicated basketball practice facilities.
