Ludacris performing at PC Midnight Madness

Unread post by rjsuperfly66 »

Always interesting to see the rat race and the different artists these schools pull together. Amazing how much it's evolved over the past 5 years. Schools aren't pulling recruits based on how the team looks or the dunk contest, it's all who gets the biggest name artist to perform on campus.

At the end of the day, I think it means minimal, but amazing the investment all schools putting towards it now.

If I'm a coach, would I rather have Ludacris (still a name even if he's not much a performer these days) or to rewind 5 years to when the main act of PCMM was this ( I don't cut the checks, but I'm sure Luda still isn't cheap, but is much less expensive then 99% of the name-brand artists out there today.

Look, you could cut me the check for a lot less, I'd have 'em laughing, give them better life advice than Cris Carter. Just make it out to "Ludicrous."

I wonder if the religious staff and administration will be attending the show ? Luda can be quite profane....

For a school that likes to limit free speech based on morality, I am surprised they invite a performer like this. Reeks of hypocrisy.

I am going to hate myself for thinking this thought, but some kids in college today were in diapers when Ludacris was cool. That would be like the Police doing midnight madness when I was in school. Holy shit I am old now.

I literally thought the same thing. I doubt the clergy has any idea about Luda. I remember fall of my freshman year (2002), "Move B*tch" was a HUGE song. Football team used it during warmups.

Probably cost them 100-150K to book Luda. Chump change in the grand scheme of things.

From what I've heard it was around ~$25K. I've said before, in the grand scheme of things, think Luda being at PC really means minimal given the nature of LNM. It's just more of a have vs. have not thing. Little pep rally, or event with a "name"? And speaking of acts from 15 years ago, I do believe Nelly was supposed to be at the PC spring concert last year until he got popped for cocaine, or something of the like.

RJ, unless it was a bro deal there is no way he is coming to PC for 25k. His performance/appearance fees are generally low six figures. And RhodyRam, glad u liked the "Must be the Honey" - that was my ad campaign :)
