This however does not necessarily mean that the incident did not occur as was alleged by the victim. If anything, the victim's story probably has even more credibility now given Austin was accused of a similar act at his next school. The victim's biggest mistake in my opinion was letting PC handle the incident internally and not immediately going to the police.
Austin is now on his third college in one year as he will be attending Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Bullock remains at Providence College. The Providence victim transferred out of PC.
Insufficient evidence essentially means the charges were weak. Legally insufficient means the likelihood of conviction is dicey at best. Other things in play could be a victim's willingness to cooperate or credibility. But that is hypothetical here.
It also doesn't exonerate these guys. I doubt they'll be getting any citizenship awards.
Prosecutors don't want to waste time on unwinnable cases. An exception was the Duke lacrosse case ... with a dangerously overzealous DA. Those guys did not commit the heinous crimes. But they weren't Eagle Scouts either.
The Latest:
Kevin Mac has an article in this morning's Projo that Austin has now landed at Northwest Florida State College near Fort Walton Beach.
He will be Coached by Steve DeMao who was an Assistant Coach at PC from 1999 to 2008. http://www.providencejournal.com/sports ... ollege.ece
