This APR stuff keeps Dan up at night.

Luckily URI basketball has posted a perfect 1000 APR last year and has kept all active players eligible this year.

JUST IN CASE YOU'VE MISSED THE EIGHT:

Teams in this year's field that would be subject to NCAA-imposed sanctions that could keep them from postseason play are: Cal Poly (925), Coastal Carolina (921), North Carolina Central (903), Oklahoma State (928), Providence (915), Texas Southern (900), Connecticut (897) and Oregon (918).

Beginning with 2012-13 championships, teams must earn a minimum 900 four-year APR or a 930 average over the most recent two years to be eligible for NCAA championships.

In 2014, seven teams fell below 925, compared with three teams in 2013. The APR was developed by the NCAA in 2004 as a way to improve graduation rates. It is a four-year rolling average of academic performance that takes into account academic eligibility and retention.

Tsk, tsk, tsk….

PC a safety school? NO…say it isn't so…first a catholic child molester as a mascot, then criminals getting investigated, and now low level IQs…the sky is falling!…AND the A10 got more bids to the big dance. Inconceivable! Inconceivable! Can't wait to hear the PC fan arguments now…priceless. :P

The idea that Providence is a prestigious school is believed only by people who went to Providence or didn't go to college at all. It definitely doesn't have that reputation in the professional world or among academics.

Providence is a prestigious school in the minds of the alums in the GA, and not much anywhere else.

Of course, in RI, that means a lot.

I was talking more in terms of location. A lot of our clients are med tech companies in the 128, and I haven't met a lot of PC alums there. In fairness, though, we are generally dealing with management and not the talent at those companies. I know in our firm we have a bunch of Holy Cross alums, but no PC grads that I know of.

I'm also not trying to say that a PC degree is looked down upon, but the way some PC people talk about the school is like it is Yale or something.

Switching back to the thread topic for a second, not shocking that PC would be on the list when you consider all of the defections that they've had over the last several years. I get the sense that the guys that are there now are expected to do their work.

nationally it has nowhere near the rep of either of those schools. holy cross is a better comparison. those schools are national brand name schools, in major cities...its not even close.

actually... villanova is an excellent comp for pc.

but... you can pretend it isn't.

not to mention that i didn't compare bc and pc on the same level. couldn't have been more clear calling pc a poor man's bc.

Not pretending pal, have lived outside of RI for 20 years and I know I have a better read on national perception than you do.

no you don't. similar lists have existed for over 10 years and annually nova and pc go back and forth.

we were never talking about analytics, we are talking perception not reality. i dont doubt the quality of education is similar, but the level of awareness and the brand of Nova is much greater than PCs is my pov.
