Temple to drop 7 sports
Re: Temple to drop 7 sports
Wow. Just think...a bunch of us (myself included) we bemoaning how great of a position Temple got themselves into with a successful basketball program. What a difference a year makes...

If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Yeah, wish they'd just come back to the A10 for hoops and forget about stupid football. They're not in the BCS elite, so what's the point?

In that video, I was completely expecting to hear more audible outrage beyond the sobbing camera person.

Yeah, this sucks. The crew losses hurt the most to me, just because there's a history of rowing in the city and Boathouse Row is a pretty iconic image in Philly. There was some controversy about Temple getting space there a few years back, and there's always been talk about the school having to cut back. Campus space is restricted- it's surrounded by neighborhoods, with some resulting tension- and the facilities are limited, with basketball being about the only main sport played on campus. But at the same time, the school has changed in a lot of positive ways over the last 15 years or so with developing the area and making it more of a real campus.

College athletics must get back to more regional conferences. Football is one thing, but all this travel must hurt.
