“So we can get James Madison up here and remember 84-7 and beat their ass on our field next year, which is the opportunity ahead of us,” Jim Fleming, Christmas Eve, Providence Journal.

Big day tomorrow, we're going to beat the ass of the defending national champions and number one school in the FCS.

I truly hope that's the case and, there's no reason that can't happen, except for, well....reality

Are head football coaches required to undergo drug-testing? And if so, do they have to "pass"?

I believe the way I put it last year with this quote was all the Rex Ryan foolishness with none of the charisma.

I bet no one from JMU has seen that quote. Can't wait to see the ass kicking!

To be fair, the full quote was a response to a question about program resources/facilities:

Jim Fleming -- 'The character of the football team is focused on winning in spite of not having the best – to embrace that. So we can get James Madison up here and remember 84-7 and beat their ass on our field next year, which is the opportunity ahead of us.'

Think what you will, of course, but at least put it in context.

I will be there tomorrow to hopefully see Appalachian state/Michigan. Anyone know the line. My guess would be around 35.

To be fair, the context is we had tied the worst loss in program history the month before, so maybe shut up when talking about the team that did it and don't give them bulletin board material. It was an embarrassing thing to say.

Harris: 105-196 for 53.6%, 9 TDs, 12 Interceptions including 6 in the 1st game of the season
Lawson: 54-94 for 57.4%, 6 TDs and only 2 Interceptions. Plus Lawson 252 yards on 51 carries for 4.9 yards per carry. He is elusive and throws well on the run.

Lawson has started only 2 games, the last two. He could easily be 2-0 as he could have had a win vs Elon, some Coaching maladies in not going for a 2 point conversion and trying to pass on 3rd down when we were in good FG position at the 19 Yard Line with a strong wind at our backs with 30 seconds to go vs Nationally Ranked Elon

Can Lawson lead this team to victory today? We are coming off a solid performance versus Elon and another strong performance on the road at Albany.

Let's shock the nation!!! GO RHODY!

perfect...end the quarter with a chance to take the lead on the #1 team in the country on a 34 yard FG.....and SURPRISE!!!! Doink, no good.....

Bigger surprise: JMU takes it from there 80 yards, 10 plays - touchdown

Down 7-3 at half. More than holding our own
Defensive line playing great.

You know, between the way they ran up the score last year, are doing it again late now and their chicken shit refusal to move up to FBS, I’ve really come to dislike James Madison in the last year.

dang...that didn't take long... they're really good, those Dukes...
I think they scored like 30 points in an hour?

Our halftime speeches must make Knute Rockne jealous.
Another 2nd half of porous defense, tons of penalties and stagnant offense.

Then again, maybe we kinda had it coming with Fleming’s comment last year about we get a chance to kick their ass on our field.

More penalties than you can shake a stick at...and you can shake a stick at a lot of things...but, even without the penalties...JMU just looked so much better. I followed the first half online, but when I went over....I couldn't begin to fathom how Rhody hung with them that long. Looked like a Serious mismatch from the minute I got there...

Also...you know your team isn't very good, when the opponent is from 500 miles away and they have more of the 'good seats' than the home team does...

Last year our average CAA game was a 35.1-16.3 loss. This year so far it’s a 33.5-21.2 loss.

^ I'm not sure that's accurate...maybe needs further review? Take out the JMU games and maybe not much difference? This year's JMU game was probably made much closer because of the awesome home field advantage? Actually...it looked like there were a lot more JMU fans on the 'safe' side of the field than Rhody fans...?

They probably came up to see our pretty leaves.

I think JMU has only given up 7-8 TD's all year, and two were to East Carolina, and FBS team.

I am of the opinion thats something has to change with the seating and in game experience at Mead.
500 miles away and from the good seats? Home stands away stands somebody’s got to figure it out, it’s bad enough that we loose, but to have to share the stands with the opposition, madding.
Let’s get the band back over to the Ryan Center stands, right hand side has plenty of room, offer Ryan Center stands to students on first come basis, at least give the team a home field advantage.
I’m for any improvement on this issue.

JMU is now (9-0) and solidly ranked #1 in FCS.
Average Margin of victory has been 29 points.
A big game in FCS is shaping up to be JMU @ Elon on Saturday November 18, however, Elon won a squeaker Saturday vs Towson (3-6) 33-30 in Double OT on their (Elon's) home field.
Here is JMU's Schedule:

@ East Carolina (34-14) 20 points
ETSU (52-10) 42 points
Norfolk State (75-14) 61 points
Maine (28-10) 18 points
@ Delaware (20-10) 10 points
Villanova (30-8) 22 points
@ William & Mary (46-14) 32 points
UNH (21-0 ) 21 points
@ URI (38-3) 35 points
Richmond 3:30 PM Sat, Nov 11
@ Elon 12:00 PM Sat Nov 18
