It is the Gloria Gemma "Flames of Hope a Celebration of Life" waterfire in Providence tonight at 6:30pm. This lighting attracts one of the biggest crowds of the season. Expect it to be busy in the city.

Atrocious play calling. Deception is not something our coaches prescribe to.
Half dozen dumb mistakes. We have great receivers and don't use them. Run dives up the middle with a 5'7" scat back.

This is a game we should have won. Really makes you question the Harvard game. Did we only win because it was their first game of the year and we had two under our belt? Clearly have a lot to work on during the off week, because our next two against Maine and Elon are games we should win

Thorr needs to finally recognize that this coaching staff is overmatched. A team with inferior talent just beat a team with better talent. These kids need to believe they can win but how can they when all they do is lose. Relieve Fleming of his duties now- let them know that URI wants to win. Look at what Columbia is doing - it can be done!

Very disappointing to say the least.
I say it every week so I apologize, but the offense is so predictable it's hard to watch.
Off-tackle to Cooper, Screen pass to Denny, Seam route to Parker, in-cut to Parker, Swing pass to Cooper.
I'm exaggerating obviously, but it seems like those are the only plays we run.

Defense had a tough 3rd quarter.
Lots of bad mental mistakes and penalties in this one.
Browns coaching staff made half-time adjustments and you failed to do anything.
Putting Lawson in the 3rd quarter was very questionable. You had the lead, Harris is clearing the QB, why do that then?
Almost too much to discuss with this one...

Fleming has to go. Hopefully he does after this season.

If things keep getting worse, he will imo.

His son as OC is a disaster......no discipline either. I had a feeling that as the talent got better, the lack of coaching would hold them back.

When I posted “win this game” at halftime, I assumed we would blow it. I don’t think it is a talent deficiency inside the lines, just outside.

We should almost never have a talent deficiency matched up against Brown. You want to be a real CAA program, you should handle a middle of the pack Ivy league team. They've beaten us 6 out of the last 7 when it should be the reverse. Just another embarrassing thing we've had to deal with since 2001.

I agree with those calling for the Fleming era to come to an end, go back to when he was hired and you're not going to find a bigger critic of the hire than me. But what makes us think Thorr can identify and hire the right candidate to turn this program around? His handling of the program between the coaching hires and the NEC flip flop has been positively Matt Millenesque. Go back to the James Madison loss last year. That should have been a wake up call, and all we got was more of the same in the press and running things. Also, what coach can we reasonably bring in that can turn things around?

All this and most of our stands aren't safe to sit in.

URI may not be willing to throw more money at football to fire a coach. Flemming got a five year contract back when hired in December of 2013. That would mean he has another year after this season. Given the way URI has dealt with its football program, expect him to be here until November 2018.

Financially it's certainly easier to address the coaching. But if you don't fix the stands does it matter what you do with coaching? UNH was able to win with facilities almost as bad as ours, what was their secret? When we hired Fleming I really wanted someone from UNH, maybe find out what their secret has been.

The coach we needed was right here in RI - Chesney at Salve Regina. Won 9 games every year there and now has Assumption as one of the top DII schools in the country - very good chance of going undefeated this year. He is young, his teams score lots of points, and he would not even think of coming to URI now. Thorr blew this hire and apparently no one is there to hold him accountable.

I can understand why people are calling for Fleming to be fired...but do we really think it'll make a difference?
I'm not sure what another guy can do. I think he should see the end of his contract.
Plus, he probably will. I don't see URI buying him out.

If you truly believe that we have the players, then if you change coaches you might repeat the Floyd Keith/Tim Stowers transition which lead to our last winning season.

Yes, UNH is a gnarly university for sure... ;)

Sounds like neither the stands or the coaching sitch will be addressed before they absolutely have to be....
Would be a stunner to see anything proactive happen on either...

Fleming imo will not be extended....if he's here another year that's it....a lame duck which won't help recruiting one bit.

Of course who will they be able to get that's better for the money they will pay....

If they keep him it's like admitting the program is dead, or should die.

Maybe they have "inept coach" insurance and they can give him his walking papers now. But in all seriousness, if they cannot afford to pay off his final year then they cannot afford to have football at URI. This is a mess and we will see if Thorr can clean it up.

For supposedly being a "football guy" Thorr hasn't exactly covered himself with glory when it comes to the football program.

He should have insisted Fleming hire an OC other than his son who looks clueless out there.

Of course Fleming is the one responsible for this mess.

When Fleming cam if , we did not even have good Div II talent, the cupboard was bare. Team is playing a lot better. We were in the UNH game, something that has not happened for 6 years. I don't see lights, I don't see Field Turf (actually needed on practice field). Play calling is one of the biggest issues now.

Joe Trainer won 3 games with the "D2" talent - I am pretty certain Fleming will not match this high-water mark. Also, 2 years ago we had a 17-0 lead on UNH at halftime and eerily similar to the Brown game we lost 20-17. He is losing with better talent and anyone who has watched this team during his tenure has seen a team that makes endless mistakes, untimely and undisciplined penalties, lack of consistent execution, a predictable offense, and a team that seems unable to adjust. These player's deserve a better coach.

We need to look for another OC. The lack of creativity offensively has killed us the last few years.
The offense has talent. Guys like Cooper, Parker, Denny, Beauvais, Harris etc. Offensive line with lots of experience.

The defense has made strides under Fleming. They have talent, and have performed pretty well given the circumstances.
Jose Duncan, DJ Stewart, Mack, Hogan etc all stand out players in the CAA

I believe we have the talent to compete on both sides. It may not allow us to beat teams like JMU, Villanova etc, but we should be able to win more games than we do.

Could it be the head coach? Yes, of course. But maybe we need to invest more in our assistants that really work with the players 1 on 1 in camp and during the season.

Trainer was heading in the right direction, I think we won 5 games in 2010, the year Probst was QA, then they announced we were dropping down to the NEC, lost scholarships, and we are still recovering from that. I am not sure we are sill using all the scholarships we can.

Maybe they are doing a terrible job evaluating talent. Know of an OL/DL that was very interested in URI after camping there and never received an offer. That player received other CAA offers later and now starts as a redshirt freshman for a top 15 FCS program.
