Yes, interesting, but now they are moving him back to running back. Wonder what changed or how this came about? Also article is not clear as it says he is moving from offense to defense but actually the other way around as you read the article.
Sounds good for the offense though.
Good catch, Ramster. That has been corrected. He is moving from defense to offense.
Thanks Shane,
What are your thoughts about Zoe Bryant moving to running back? How is he looking so far?
What do you think about the QB Situation? Any guess on a starter at this point?

Bryant has looked pretty good since the switch. He's definitely comfortable on the offensive side of the ball, and he gives a bigger, physical presence for the backfield.

In terms of QB, I can't offer guesses. It would be inappropriate for me to do so. I can say that each guy is getting long looks in practice. Monday's scrimmage will be key in that battle.

Thanks,
I understand. But would you guess that they guys now battling it out for the starting QB spot are a significant improvement over prior years? Would either guy give fans like us reason for optimism over previous years in your opinion?

Shane,
Overall how is the team looking? Last year I was very impressed with the offensive line, plus we recruited some decent guys there too. Could be a key to the QB and Running Back performances. Is the OF Line viewed favorably right now as a strength?
How is the team feeling about the trip to Central Michigan? Excited?

Both sides of the line have looked solid thus far. The D-Line is a little deeper and more experienced at this point, and the key on the offensive side will be maintaining the health of the top 5-6 guys. The encouraging thing on both sides of the line is how many practices the same groups have been together. On the defensive side, you've had the same four across every day so far in camp. On the offensive side, it has been virtually the same five every day, save for a couple of maintenance sessions. The continuity at the line is leading to productive practices.

Watched the first half of today's scrimmage. Overall, I thought the QB's looked good. They found the open receivers and threw the ball well. The O line had a bit of trouble protecting the QB, so that was a concern. Dwayne Scott, starting center was not playing so I am sure that was part of it. Cooper also did not play. Tough to get a real evaluation when playing against yourself, I don't know how good our D is. I hope the ability to get to the QB is real. But given that today's football is about scoring points and having the D make a few critical stops, I think things looked positive. I will be on board when they beat Stony Brook and upset Harvard.

I like that the two transfer QBs both threw accurately. Jujuan can clearly run the ball as well. Having two effective QBs with somewhat different skill sets can be a real asset if used properly. UNH has done this well over the years. Cannot say I am confident with this coaching staff.

Let's face it--the qb play the last several years has been pretty bad. Having 2 D1 transfer qbs now gives me hope the offense will be much better and consistent.

Looks like this team will score a lot of points.....but how many will they give up?

Don't want to be on the wrong end of too many 35-30 type games.....could come down to coaching and that's not something that inspires a whole lot of confidence.

Rambone-if you are correct and they average 30 points a game, they will win 2-3 times more games than a year ago. my prediction.

I didn't say they will average that many, but they might score 30 or more a number of times.....yes if they can average 30 they should win at least 4 or 5 games.

That's asking a lot, though.

If they score 30 per game ... it would probably be the funnest football they've had to watch around here for a while...regardless of record...

30 points a game is what is required in the CAA to have a chance to win. But the D has to make key stops. A pash rush without blitzing is essential. This has not existed under Fleming.

Haven't they averaged about 15 ppg the last two years? I think 30 points/game, every game, would be a Huge upgrade to the experience, regardless of record. Is it possible?

Is it just me, or is it important to realize that the evidence people are using to say they will score 30 points a game is taken from a scrimmage where they were scoring on themselves?

Yes, but it also is influenced by the final 2 games of last season when they scored 44 and 30 points respectively. Add in 2 D1 transfer QBs who both look like upgrades, a solid core of receivers, and some good running backs, and there is some reason to be optimistic. As I said in an earlier post, go 2-1 and my optimism will be real.

Hi Guys,
This year my podcast Rhode Talk will be covering Rhode Island football exclusively. Our first episode of the season was last week if you want to check us out. You can follow us on Facebook or Twitter @RhodeTalk.
This week we'll have a preview of the game coming up against Central Michigan. Like I said, no more Brown or Bryant. We were stretching ourselves thin and we are obviously huge Rhode Island fans so we're sticking with what we know. Hoping to get some more interviews like the one we did with Thorr last year. Anything you guys want to hear, I'd love to know. Thanks Guys.

Ive listened to the podcast in the past and don't remember how I felt about it.

But I do agree that generally speaking I like optimistic coverage. Nothing to do with the podcast but others that cover certain teams for certain papers that bounce off of my house every morning.

funny thing is the NCAA football team I follow is located in the deep south and one of the main guys that covers it is from Mass. I think he shoots for fair coverage but people are used to more positive optimistic coverage down there and he catches a lot of flak for his work.
