Bill sounds very enthusiastic about Bryant football.

Right. I generally really like Bill, and think he does a great job covering the team and gets a bit too hard of a time from some of our fans. But we'd have to win a national championship to get such an enthusiastically flattering story written about us as Bryant got for their glorified high school football program.

Uh, what in our record last year shows we would have killed them? And their glorified high school program? They've been better than us recently and they have a better stadium, so what does that make us?

They play in a glorified high school league. Nobody from that level could beat anyone from our level. Doesn't matter how much URI has struggled.

Is this a joke? Central Connecticut is in that glorified high school league, were tied for last place in that league in 2014 with one conference win and beat us 38-14. In 2014, Bryant beat Maine, we haven't beaten them since 2006. Maybe that's why you're so pro football, you have no idea what's going on in FCS, how it works and URI's place in it?

Blah blah D4 football

I literally did not know Central Connecticut had sports.

More transitive property fun:

Brown beat Bryant 35-27 this year.

URI beat Brown 28-13.

URI would have lit Bryant up if they played them.

The Season Ending Sagarin Rankings for Football that combines FBS and FCS for a Total of 253 Teams:

Bryant (5-6) Ranked 197
Rhode Island (2-9) Ranked 218
Brown (4-6) Ranked 226
Central Connecticut (2-9) Ranked 232

The big difference is that Bryant was not happy with their 5-6 performance and fired their Head Coach - and they are already ahead of URI.

Not only that, but when we were living in CT...they made 3 NCAAT appearances in 7 years....and for the first, in 2000...gave an Iowa State team led by Marcus Fizer (#4 pick, Bulls) all they could handle...

Dropping to Bryant's league would save a lot of scholarships for other teams and greatly lower travel expenses with the southern based CAA.
You could still have your Sat. tailgating and root for a competitive (hopefully) Rhody team.

yes, we could just as easily drop down and continue to not invest and keep losing at that level and save some money. Our facilities would probably be about average for that conference until they all slowly upgrade them and then we will finally have the worst in that conference too.
