Here is why I do NOT think URI gets smacked Saturday

- We just scored 44 points on the road at Elon
- Out Offense is young and therefore more upside potential than a more senior laden offense - so they may be unpredictable but they are improving as last Saturday clearly showed and they showed how well the offensive line can protect the QB AND block for the running backs
- Offense has 4 Freshmen Starters and 3 Sophomore Starters
- Look at the Offense!!!!
+++Freshman Quarterback who was great last Saturday
+++Vazzano is protected by 3 Freshmen Linemen - Yes THREE!!!!

Center Dwayne Scott is a Freshman
Right Guard Raees Johnson is a Freshman
Left Guard Kyle Murphy is a Freshman
Plus Left Tackle Dino Boyd is only a Soph
Right Tackle Steinmetz is a Junior
So the entire Offensive Line returns next year plus could be bolstered by incoming recruits

On defense we start 2 Freshmen
Defensive Tackle Tyrone Barge
Cornerback Momodou Mbye

A win against Towson this Saturday would be a nice way to end the season and these guys can look forward to playing together next year along with a hopefully equally strong Freshman Class

Playing well. Up 8 with under 3 minutes to go, Towson ball on the 20. Would be nice to finish this game out and transition into a victory against Cinci!

Poor coaching or execution the last 3 minutes? 55 yard FG at the CAA level? That's ridiculous.....

Anyway, the program is showing some small signs of life.......need to improve some more next season....

And it had leg to spare. Shocked that the kick went through... But I was impressed with the way the guys bounced back from the embarrassing game against JMU. It sounds like the guys took to the coaching and bought in during the bye-week, which isn't easy when you lose by almost 80!

Amen. Honestly if a college kicker nails a 55 yarder in the elements (i.e. not in a dome), all credit to him. Rams were right there and they win that game against most other teams/kickers.

Playing not to lose.
That's what we did the last two possessions. Never even attempted a pass. We were on 1st down away from having the game.

The pep band must've been stuck at the football game yesterday. Just another reminder that we need to:

Get rid of the program.

the coaches definitely played not to lose, which is a loser strategy for a team that does not know how to win. Towson, trailing by 8 and on their own 10 with under 4 minutes in the game, scored in 5 plays as if there was no defense on the field Rhody's response - when a first down will end the game - run the ball 3 times into a stacked box. Pathetic! Don't get rid of the program but the coaches are another story.

However, it was an exciting game to watch, and the crowd in the East Stands were really into it, standing on their seats during big plays at the end of the game. Give the Towson kicker credit, he really nailed that field goal, it was 55 yards and had room to spare.

Shouldn't have come down to a FG anyway.....Fleming isn't the world's best play caller that's for sure......

Play to win, not to lose......stupid

Flemings son should not be OC or calling plays.
That has been a sore point last few seasons. And the way Vazzano was playing?!?! Not to pass??
I heard the coaching staff was short a few positions this year?
If that is true, hire someone with experience!!
God,I was sick after hearing details of loss (went to hoops game).

Thorr should step in and lay down the law......or can they not afford an OC or other staff?

If not, either dump Fleming or...........no excuses really

Absolutely agree Susie. If I had to pick the greatest strengths going into next year they would be Offensive Line and QB. I also like our punter a lot - of course we kept him quite busy throughout the year!!

Staff is working on next year's recruiting class and I am hearing some good things.

Secondary can improve internally. Would still bring in 4 DBs. at least 2 JuCos.
Fleming is coaching for his job.
Another thing is McKeenan needs to stop with the fumbles an 15 yard penalties each game.

McKeeman had one fumble this year - certainly at a bad time against Towson, and his penalty in this game was a 5 harder for illegal procedure- but yes he gets his share of penalties. It might be nice if the rest of the team played with his aggression!
