Rhody picked to finish 9th in the A-10, but the exciting news is that Charise Wilson has been named First Team All Conference.

The Lady Rams have had a solid start to the season. They're 4-3, notching wins over Toledo, Samford, Fairfield and UMass Lowell.

No surprise here, Charise Wilson is leading the charge in scoring(18.3ppg), closely followed by Dominique Ward (9.3ppg) and Dina Motrechuk (7.6ppg). Wilson unleashed the beast on UMass Lowell last night with 31 points and a couple clutch 3's.

A quick reminder that the Rams face off against Michigan State (#22 in the Coaches poll) on December 8th @7:00 At The Ryan Center, and it's a great opportunity to show some support for the success they've had so far!

Surprised to see that they are hosting Michigan State tonight. Seems like Michigan State is pretty good- 8-2.

Bos,
Michigan State is #26 in USA Today poll. Losses only to Oregon and Syracuse. MSU has a senior guard averaging 23 PPG

Syracuse is ranked #19 USA Today. We played them earlier this year

Then on saturday we play AT Kansas.

Really ramping up the degree of difficulty of the schedule!!

So the UConn women's thread made me check in on our women's team. Uhh, things are not going quite as well for our squad. They're currently 4-21, have lost 18 games in a row, are 0-13 in the A10, and have an average defeat of 14.4 points in those 13 contests.

And an injury to our top player has not helped

Charise Wilson has missed six games including our last one on Saturday.

Yes, they have really been struggling but when they lost Chaise it's been brutal. Their 6'5" center has been a pleasant surprise.

some of the recruits of the past two years have not contributed to the extent I thought they would.

I've been to 3 games this year (all losses). Wilson missing has really hurt this team, and they have yet to find a legitimate scoring option behind her.

Ramster is right though, the center duo of Dina Motrechuk and Nicole Jorgenson have been a good surprise this year.

Hurts to see this team have such a rough year after two years of moving in the right direction.

While that would obviously be a perfect scenario, I'm not going to be that much of an A hole lol.

Took my kids to the women's game on Saturday. This was the first women's game I've attended since my senior year almost 20 years ago. This year's team was 0-14 in the A-10 so really wasn't expecting a win. They were down double digits towards the end of the 3rd so that it was over. They fought back & ended up with a one point win. Was a really exciting finish. And they didn't give up a game winning 3 across from the opposing team's bench which was a pleasant surprise.

The last non-men's basketball that I attended I took my kids to the men's football game against Delaware. That was also a win, the only one of the season. So if you are keeping track at home, I saw a now 1-14 conference women's team get its only win & a 1-10 football team get its only win. Thorr, if you are reading this, feel free to give my kids season tickets if you want a winning team. :)

6-23, 2-14 in conference, lost in the first round of the A10. 2-15 in conference games is unacceptable. The only bright spot is Cherise Wilson made third team all A10.

Wilson was picked preseason to be 1st team and also to make the defensive team so making 3rd team was not to her expectations, unfortunately the team did not have a good year plus she was out with injury for a while during conference play.

The team lost two starters from last year. Samantha Tabakman and Tayra Melendez.
Tabakman was a 3 year starter who was second on the team in scoring and led in rebounding.
Think of Melendez as the TJ Buchanan type of player - tough as nails, good IQ, and the starting point guard.

Its a young team and they struggled with injuries all year, but next year has all the makings of a better squad. Seniors ready to make a last run, and improving underclassmen who got a lot of playing time this year.

Yes, they're young but that was a brutal season. One more year for Wilson and then it could really be bleak.

Never mind with Maia Caito. The Cranston East player choose Wisconsin. Way to go after local talent.

Do you think the staff just didn't bother to recruit a player that went to the Big 10 or do you think the player decided to go to the Big 10 instead of URI?

We also recruited a St Andrews player heavily and she went to Ohio State....

The staff is trying....
