This years team is under valued.
They are poised to really surprise this year.
These polls are conducted by lazy media who don't do their homework.

This poll was conducted by the league's head coaches and the school's media relations directors.

No problem, just letting everyone know how it was conducted.

The points are based on first place getting 12, second getting 11 and so on. So it's easy to see how people voted for Richmond, all five voters who had someone else winning had Richmond second.

It's harder to see how URI got their total of 37 when the minimum is 24. Maybe 13 of the voters picking them second to last and the other 11 picking them last? Probably not, there's probably a couple voters who had them higher (Fleming and the URI SID) with more people picking them last. I'm not sure if the CAA breaks the whole thing down or just gives the final total.

Maybe the optimism is warranted, but until they prove it on the field I don't see how anyone outside the program can pick them above last.

Cooper and Parker making first team is well deserved - both are outstanding players, leaders and individuals.
First time since 2011 that URI placed 2 players on preseason first team

Rhody had 5 All CAA players last year.
Most (all?) are coming back.
McKeenan is AA caliber at TE.
Need to score many more points!!
DBs need to play better.
OC/play caller is canned-good!
QBs need to step up.
Its simple,but not easy.
Need to go 2-2 or 3-1 in first 4 games or forget it (same prediction I make every year). Never been wrong.

Hal,

Just to clarify, Rhode Island had seven players earn a total of eight spots on the CAA all-conference team last season:

Harold Cooper - 1st Team Kick Returner, 3rd Team Running Back
Adam Parker - 2nd Team Linebacker
Tyler Catalina - 2nd Team Offensive Line
Tim Wienclaw - 2nd Team Safety
Charlie McKeeman - 3rd Team Tight End
Myles Holmes - 3rd Team Cornerback
Mike Ezirike - 3rd Team Defensive Line

Cooper, Parker, McKeeman and Ezirike are all back.

Wienclaw and Holmes graduated, and Catalina transferred to Georgia.

Actually URI had 7 players on 2015 All CAA Teams......4 return for this year's team. Cooper made the 1st and the 3rd teams in different positions

1st team - Harold Cooper - KR - SOPH

2nd team - Tyler Catalina - OL - now at Georgia - see recent article below
2nd team - Adam Parker - LB - JR
2nd team - Tim Wienclaw - S - SR

3rd team - Harold Cooper - RB - SOPH
3rd team - Charlie McKeeman - TE - SOPH
3rd team - Mike Ezirike - DL - SOPH
3rd team - Miles Holmes - CB - SR

Here is an update....

I think it's a battle between McKoy and Vazanno with Vazanno having the edge based on spring practice performance but I very much liked McKoy the last half of the season. He played very well for a freshman.
Possibly McKoy could find time at another position if Vazanno wins the starting QB? McKoy is too good to not be in the game in some capacity.

Watched Catalina play with some ex-o lineman.
Compared to the O lineman Rhody had in late 70's thru 85-not even close.

Bos,
Here is article about the QB race at the end of spring practice. Writer says 60% chance it goes to McKoy, 40% chance it goes to Vazzano.

Either way, I liked what McKoy did last year, but it's nice to have two good options available. McKoy a great athlete who can run and pass, then the tall Vazzano who is the traditional drop back passer. Best depth at QB position on many years.

Reminds me a lot of the Steve Probst/Bentsen depth they had in '10-'11. Looking forward to having some stability at the QB position.

RamBand-OMG. Probst and Bentsen both regressed considerably.
If you are correct, the program is cooked.
