Homecoming 2015

Unread post by OBRAM »

Homecoming was great this year. Out football team would have been more competitive had we not lost our #1 QB. Richmond passing game was excellent. Out defense did hang in there, but If we could sustain more drives, we would put more points on the scoreboard, and Richmond would not have had as many opportunities. Two big plays, our running into the kicker when Richmond missed a field goal, which allowed Richmond to score just before the 1/2 half ended, and a dropped pass by URI offense to a wide open receiver that looked like a sure TD.
Tailgating was great. I met some great people , including Daynia the Woman's basketball coach and lots of students and the weather was very good also. Also, the Ramettes did make an appearance at the game, and about 20 extra band members from past bands helped the Band sound really good with the extra musicians. The tailgating area was fun, and family oriented, people of all ages.

People may not be seeing much improvement in the wins column, but Rhody looked solid on defense and special teams. They seem to have a good punter and kicker. The defense gives the team a chance of winning each game, but they have no offense to speak of right now. Hopefully another year of recruiting will help change that. The young QB's look promising...no deer in headlights look going on from what I could see. They weren't perfect, but they were better than one might expect for some freshmen. Team isn't constantly fumbling or shooting themselves in the foot as frequently as in years past either.
Crossing my fingers that the team can squeeze out another win or two before the year ends, so the record reflects some of the improvement that has been made from last year.

Yup, that's right, winning and losing doesn't matter! Our football program is doing great!

It's all the fans fault.

It is in large part. You get what you demand and pay for as a consumer. There are no demands of excellence from URI football fans.
