I was underwhelmed by her overall record at NU, but she shows steady improvement and was COY in the CAA. Inglese was always stuck at single digit wins. I'm happy with the hire.

Her overall record is underwhelming, but Inglese had a great pedigree and look at how that turned out. As someone who believes that there is probably an institutional issue holding back the program, I hope the department is going to give Coach La-Force the resources necessary to succeed.

JALISSA ROSS - FENWAY
The 6-foot-2 junior center has an impressive resume, having led the Panthers to a pair of Division 4 EMass titles as well as the Boston City League championship this past season. A three-time BCL all-star, Ross enters her senior year with 672 points and 648 rebounds. Ross was ranked among the 100 junior prospects in the country by one service. In the offseason, Ross plays with the Boston Showstoppers.

It's part of a tournament that also takes place tomorrow. East Carolina and Fairfield play at 2. Then tomorrow Marshall and Fairfield play at noon and URI plays East Carolina at 3.

Yikes. 42% on FTs for the Lady Rams (19 attempts) vs Marshall's 76% FTs on 25 attempts.

LaForce's first year is probably going to be analogous to Hurley's first year. They're going to play hard, but they're gonna be dominated talent-wise more often than not. It's not a good team, but she's recruiting like crazy. The rebuild is in motion.

The women followed up their success on Long island and beat Brown on Wednesday for their 3rd straight win. They are now 4-3 with a home game this Saturday vs CCSU and away on Sunday at PC. Much better beginning to this season than last year when they stated out at 1-7.

ATP, a lot of our athletic programs look to be on their way to some actual success for a change.

The one BIG laggard is the football program.

The turnaround is incredible this soon. La-Force doesn't even have anyway near a full compliment of her own players yet.

Coaching does make a huge difference at this level.

Hopefully people will start to want to see them play!

Would be nice if they could get at least 1500-2000. At some point anyway.

I was one who called for Inglese to be fired sooner than the 5 years she got. When I wrote this most said it was not or was probably not Inglese because she had been so successful at other programs, particularly BC. Most said it was deeper problems including lack of support from the University, lack of money put into the program, issues with the Athletic Department, and on and on. Others said it was too early that we should give her more time. Here record here was dismal, absolutely dismal.
This turnaround is a perfect example of how we should not go so long with a Coach who does not show forward progress which Inglese did not show - 5 years was at least 2 years too long.
ANd if you like Charise Wilson wait until you see Jalissa Ross from Fenway HS in Boston. La-Force recruited Wilson to Northeastern and then she recruited her to URI naturally when she came here. La-Force recruited Ross to Northeastern for many years especially since Fenway HS is about a mile from Northeastern but that she probably would not have been able to land such a talent to Northeastern but she was able to pursuade her to Rhody, says a lot about our program and our A10 conference afiliation right there. Wilson could get Freshman of the year at URI this year, Ross could get Freshman of the year next year as she is the highest ranked recruit at this time coming into the A10. Sounds familiar to the Men's Program huh?
What Hurley and La-Force hirings show is how important the Coaching is to a Program - and how players we never thought would select URI WILL select URI. These hirings and their resulting performance also show that never again should URI settle for performances like Baron and inglese gave us and for such long periods of time. We have to pull the trigger sooner than later when Coaches do not meet expectations.

Agreed. I would like to get to a women's game this year. I'd like to bring my wife and 3yr old son so we can sit nice and close.

There are some great looking improvements in the graphs on this page. RPI, Win total, point differential, etc.

Imagine, The Godfather talking up WBB the other night at
Doherty's.
This will prove to be a superb hire, until she leaves for Rutgers or
Seton Hall.......Oh, wait wrong program.
ATP, I've looked at the WBB schedule with a mind towards taking my
granddaughters.
Season tickets last year for MBB was a terrible idea.
Maybe with less going on around them, they can pay attention to the game on
the court instead of fighting with each other?

URI Leads the Conference in Steals with 10.7 per game
Charise Wilson 5th in Scoring at 16.1 ppg
