Strong Victory over Fordham on Sunday:
- Fordham came in 9-2 in A10, 17-7 overall
- Fordham won the A10 last year
- Who would have thought that URI would win knowing our top two scorers from last game would go 3-15 FG (Charise Wilson) and 1-7 FG (Sydney Lewis)
- Great game by 6'3" Junior Samantha Tabakman getting her 2nd consecutive start after returning from injury
- Tabakman had a monster game going an almost perfect 7-8 FG, a perfect 6-6 FT, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, a team leading 22 points in only 23 minutes of playing time
- Impressive win over Fordham but very impressive to beat a solid, upper echelon A10 team by a whopping 15 points

Given what she was given to work with, there aren't many negatives to find in the job she's done. One similarity between her and Dan is that they're masters at getting their teams to buy into their system. Plus they seem to know how to get the best out of the players they have. But I suppose you can say that about all successful coaches.

After my 3yr old's swim class in Tootell, my wife and I took him to the Ladies Pink Out Senior Night game at the Ryan Center. We were treated to a blowout of a first half as the Lady Rams outclassed St Louis in just about every way. I enjoyed it and the rest of the 669 or so fans did as well.

Saw Rod with his grand daughters (Tried to shout Hey Rod! from my seat in the last row of 104, but I had no voice from the Davidson game).

Strong contingent of the men's team was there at courtside on the south sideline to support the team as well. Saw Jared Terrell shopping in the RamZone.

While we only stayed one half due to impending bed time, it was fun and I will definitely go to more games especially for $7 general admission (and kids 13 and under are FREE). I hope more fans of the men's team will take in a game or two next season.

This team is light years ahead of any team since the 90's.
You can see how well coached they are, and how disciplined
they play.
Fun team to watch. Not that big, but they play hard for 40 minutes.
As ATP said, this is a good take for a family.
I found it easier to point out parts of the game, to the midgets.
Plus I sit in places that I don't usually, for a different view of the floor.
A good time and the price is right.

Tied for 5th in the A10 with Richmond, one game ahead of VCU, Saint Louis and Saint Joe's, but no chance of jumping into fourth place. The women's bracket works the same as the men's, with the tournament being held in Richmond. We travel to UMass, who is second to last in the conference. Richmond is at VCU. Richmond beat us in Kingston, so they own the tiebreaker.

I admit to knowing next to nothing about Atlantic 10 women's basketball, and GW did win the conference, but they had two players on first team all-conference and were picked to finish 2nd. Sounds like a job well done but coach of the year?

It's a tough break for La-Force after guiding us to a 6 win improvement in conference, but GW's coach seems to have turned their program into a wagon. This was his third season and he led GW to a 15-1 conference record, an improvement of 4 wins over last year. Normally a coach that had La-Force's season would win, but it's really hard to ignore that kind of record especially when their improvement year over year was almost our equal.

The A-10 office, league media, and other members could care less about URI. We are the geographic outlier that is always overlooked. It has become tradition to get shafted by the league. We merely exist to fill out schedules for the favored members.

I will try to watch tonight online (Free live stream at atlantic10.com or A10 app if you have a iOS/Apple device).

The announcers were driving me nuts because they kept calling the team the "Rhodies" rather than Rams. Not once did they say Rams, even when closing the telecast.

Love these two facts:

•With 17 victories, Rhode Island has its biggest win total in 19 seasons, dating back to the 1995-96 team that went 21-8 and qualified for the NCAA Championship.
•With the victory, Rhode Island has 10 more wins than it had last season, making the Rams one of only eight schools in the country to improve by at least 10 wins from last season. The others are Ohio, Southern Illinois, Texas-Arlington, Kennesaw State, Eastern Tennessee State, Radford and UC Riverside

Now for the Duquesne Game:
This is a winable game for URI, even though Duquesne is in 3rd place, 12-4, 20-9, they are beatable. We beat them the first time and then lost the 2nd game by 10 at Duquesne.
We must contain 2nd Team All A10 Player April Robinson. We did a good job last time but then Gronas got incredibly hot against us off the bench. We continue to improve and it would be awesome to get to the Semi-Finals.

Bummer they lost to the lady dukes, is it the duchesses? but as I've said I'm really happy for the women's program and I'm really hoping they can schedule some home double headers with the men's team going forward.

I do think the A10 a little bit ignores Rhody in some of these cases, La Force got screwed, but I'm not as convinced our geographical location is a problem for the A10, lets just say I think it's a good thing that both programs are 'relevant' again. Winning programs can not be ignored!

Maybe Rookie of the Year two years in a row ...

"We can switch off on a quick guard and I’m comfortable with her switching off, picking up that quick guard defensively,” said Rice. “She’ll jump center, she can shoot threes, post up, she can go to the point, we can have her on the wing, she’s an excellent passer, she can run the floor, and she’s got good speed.

“That’s the reason why out of all the freshmen coming into a fantastic conference like the Atlantic 10, she’s the highest-rated.”

In the Women's NCAA Tournament who else but Dayton of the A10 is making some big noise.
They are now in the Elite 8 having been a 7-Seed and will play 1-Seed UCONN Monday Night
Dayton pulled a big upset of 2-Seed Kentucky in the round of 32
Then had a big upset of 3-Seed Louisville today. After trailing by 1 at the half they ran away from Louisville winning 82-66.
