Home opener tonight at 7 vs some team from our state capital that has black as its primary color.
Went to the game last week at Seton Hall. They are young and small, but Gareth has invited Bradley back as an assistant, and I expect that they will soon have some pieces in place. There are 2 Brazilians on the team that started practicing just a few days before the season opened. I think the team will emphasize defense and keeping their shape (i.e. position on the pitch, not "shape" as in fitness) until they become more confident holding and moving the ball. If tonight's match is low-scoring it would indicate some progress.
Also tonight, the Yanks visit Costa Rica at 10 for their 7th match in the hex. Will be on at Charlie O's. It is possible that they clinch a bid tonight, but would need help from some other teams. In any case, a bid should be locked up by the end of match 9 next month vs Jamaica. Geoff Cameron is on the roster, and will hopefully get a start. He has played in all wcq matches since last June. USA! USA!

Re: M-SOCCER: Home Opener Tonight vs Providence College
2-1 bad guys
Scored first after almost no possession in first quarter of an hour.
Then gave up 2 quick ones before the match was 30 minutes old.
Both started with fouls just outside the box, and the resulting kicks were defended poorly.
The first one saw two unmarked attackers crash the back post, and the second was a simple shot to the near post that never should have reached the goal.
Rhody looked good in the second half, and possession was much more even than in the first match and the opening 15 tonight. They have trouble winning balls in the air, but are beginning to knock the ball around on the ground with more confidence.
