I wish they did this when I was in school. I was a first-team all-state QB my last 2 years of HS and had been recruited by some small D3 schools but decided to go to URI for Engineering instead.

I emailed high-light videos and newspaper clippings to the coaches asking about walk-on tryouts, but never head back from them and by the time I got on campus the walk-on tryouts had already happened.

Never heard of this after the season started. It used to be common for schools to do this (many years ago), but never after the first game. It's like saying "Now that you've seen us, can anybody help?"

Wow - the fact that they didn't even get back to you about the tryout date is odd.

Looking at the roster, the depth seems to be low. There are a couple guys on the roster from D3 Rhode Island high school programs.

When I was in school, a friend tried out as a kicker as a walk-on. Maybe they can find a new punter ..... they sure need one.
