I played when Cas was asst. on the great teams-84 & 95.
I think he played HS FB @ Shea (not Tolman).

He played at Pawtucket's Tolman High School for the legendary coaching brother duo of Gig and Rollie Pariseau (who late in life both worked the chains at URI games in the 80's). He and Tight End Frank Geiselman played together at both Tolman and URI.
Caswell's association with Shea High School in Pawtucket was that he was their Football Head Coach.

Re: Former URI QB and longtime Assistant Coach Passes Away
I arrived from New York in September '67 as a freshman at URI. The football team that year started off with two games on the road, with victories over Delaware and Brown. There was a buzz on campus that this might not be the typical losing season. They beat new hampshire with quarterback Larry Caswell leading the way to go three and 0. After tying Vermont and losing to Mass on the road, the rams returned home to win games against Bucknell and Maine while beating BU on the road. - leading to the final home game against uconn to determine the yankee conference championship. Caswell was great all year, including, as I mentioned in another post, being injured in that last game, and getting back and forth from South County to try and win the game. I've had heroes in sports since I was a kid, but my first two in college was Larry and Art Stephenson. Thank you, Larry!

Coach Caswell loses cancer battle
By Bill Koch Sports Editor Independent Newspapers
SOUTH KINGSTOWN — To properly eulogize Larry Caswell is to tell the stories of the people he left behind.
Only their words do justice to the memory of the University of Rhode Island Hall of Fame inductee and pillar of the South County community.
The black and white facts in Caswell’s obituary – that he died Thursday at age 66, that he waged a lengthy battle with cancer, that he was a celebrated athlete, longtime teacher and coach – don’t say enough.
