Women’s Basketball Signs Three Student-Athletes for 2013-14

KINGSTON, R.I. - Head coach Cathy Inglese has announced that Dempsey Cooper, Morgan Johnson, and Kiara Palmer each have signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Rhode Island women's basketball program, beginning in the fall of 2013.

"We are so excited about this recruiting class," said Inglese. "The work ethic, scoring ability and versatility of these student-athletes fall right in line with those traits of our current freshmen. These young women are committed to elevating our program within the Atlantic 10 and building a winning culture. Dempsey, Morgan and Kiara are great additions to our program; Rhody fans will love to watch their development and impact over the next four years."

Cooper is a 5-9 guard from Pa. Morgan Johnson is a 5-10 guard from Pa. Palmer is a 6-0 forward from NC.
Lack of continuity in staff can't be good for recruiting.

I know we have offered an exceptional PG ut of Londonderry, NH named Aliza Simpson. Plays for the New England Crusaders AAU program. Has quite a few offers, but I believe RI is stongly in the running. Have watched this player for years. Would be a difference maker.

Simpson has committed to UNH. Too bad...she would have helped.

Nice addition to the team in PG Cristina Soriano from Barcelona Spain. Will strengthen the ball handling, defense and especially the passing.
