What a disaster that year turned out to be. That team was far too talented to end that way; they had NCAA calibre talent.

I learned how to shift gears in an old Ford truck. One time I decided to wind it out and mistakenly shifted from third back to second instead of into fourth. Almost threw myself out the windshield! Anyway, if there is no clutch then you are not really driving a standard. Had a Corvette with a manual...

I was on the golf course Monday night when my time came up (well at the bar actually). Called in Tuesday and ended up with my same seats. So I suppose TP was right that it was kind of much ado about nothing. Hopefully in 2 years I will have to be much more diligent, due to our on-court success.

If you're buying season tickets, you ARE supporting URI athletics. You buy the tickets, you buy the food, you buy souveniers. It's called BEING A SUPPORTER of the program. TP, perhaps so, but is URI really in a position to mess with the season ticket holder base coming off of 2 single digit win seasons, despite the optimism surrounding next years team?

I cannot imagine my 2 season tickets are so exciting that I could get bumped. But I must admit I will be annoyed if I get bumped and I may not bother renewing my tickets for next year. I liked the old system better where you wrote in your preferences 1 thru 4 and sent them in. I wonder if I will get...

Wooden generally had a huge talent advantage during his tenure at UCLA. That does not mean he wasn't a great coach. He surely was. I don't think Geno should be compared to Wooden but he is an all-time great coach for his sport.

Height is overated. When we were recruiting somebody (maybe the Bull? kid), the kid that ended up at Iowa State (Georges Niang i think) was under the radar, but scoring all the points for the team. Now he is a budding star for Hoiberg at Iowa State. We had a shot at him but he was an undersized powe...

I think Rod is 100% correct on this one. I think offensive skills have eroded. There is no midrange game. Travelling is rampant but never called. Same with palming (or whatever they call it now). That being said, the biggest problem is still that the best players leave early, so the teams do not hav...

Truepoint, Anquan Bolden cost a 6th round draft choice. Tampa Bay picked up Vincent Jackson last year without spending a fortune. Sorry, but I think they need bigger receivers. Clearly, when you draft where NE does, there are no Megatrons or Julio Jones's available (BTW Atlanta traded up to get him)...

I think I am in the minority here but I think Welker is overated, and a product of Brady, and the offensive scheme. I don't know if Amendola is the answer either. They need some big bodied, down-the-field types of receivers. Boldin may have been a better choice. Too late for that.

Why have 3 divisions in the first place? This is a tiny state. Two divisions are enough. Have D1 and D2, North and South. Two division champs, and then an open state tourney to give the D2 teams a crack at the big boys.

Re: New A10 - URI Basketball's Conference Future
I think the idea of adding southern teams is to keep VCU and Richmond from heading elsewhere. I know they don't have many options, but if Dayton and StL leave the A10, is it really any better than the Colonial if Richmond and VCU join? Sadly, the answer to that question is no. At a minimum, the A10 ...

I think the A10 should look to the South, not the West. The MAC treams arn't going anywhere. I cannot imagine a merger with the MVC but anything is possible I guess. The A10 should secure it's southern base by looking at George Mason, Charleston, Davidson, Belmont, schools like that. I think Stony B...

I have no idea how people can defend Baron's time at URI. He was the head coach at a school that has arguably the best college basketball facility anywhere in the northeast. That should be enough of a sell to recruits to get them to the level of Xavier most years. That is a bit of a stretch. The Ry...

SERIOUSLY - why does Lebron get 3 steps? Surprised Putney isn't doing better this year. He looked real good at the Ryan Center last year. Maybe he was just on one of his streaks, but if I recall he could handle well for a big man, and drive as well as shoot the three.

They need receivers, badly. Welker is a great slot reciever but a slot receiver nevertheless. Lloyd is mediocre at best. Look at what Atlanta, Baltimore, Denver is putting out there. This would not surprise me, as UConn and Cinci would prefer the basketball tradition the C7 provides, and the reduced travel for all the other sports. If they get an offer from one of the big conferences they can take it. If not they take the C7 deal and try to deal with the football fiasco seperate...

Piazza played in an era where all offensive stats were overblown, and he was a defensive liability in a position where a premium is placed on defense. He was not close to Bench as an overall baseball player. He deserves the HOF but I can understand making him wait a year or two.

The SEC is clearly superior to all other football conferences. There is no debate. They had 6 of the top 10 before the bowls. 4 of them won including the National champs.
