Re: Game #1: Norfolk State - In-Game

Isaac is the newest Debbie Downer. We have nine players! What do you expect? They had a five point lead with 7 minutes to go. It's not as if they weren't in the game. We have no inside game, and no options on defense or offense down low. Unless Onyekaba becomes eligible, we're in for a lot of long n...

Re: Game #1: Norfolk State - In-Game

Powell was fine until the end of the game, when he reverted back to dribbling the clock out, driving underneath and getting smothered. It was as if, when the heat was on, he forgot about all he was taught by the Hurleys. JCR, how can you call Hare and offensive player, when his sole game is tip ins ...

In that case, one of two things will happen. 1. He learns, and works hard to improve his game, and becomes a major factor in the URI program. 2. He chafes under the Hurley system, becomes disheartened and discouraged, and eventually just leaves. Only time will tell the road he chooses. The rubber is...

Re: Game #1: Norfolk State - In-Game

With Hare, I just don't see game there. He can run. He moves well, but no offense at all. Maybe he could dominate high schoolers, but NSU has a decent 7 footer, who was a nightmare matchup all night long. Hare had three fouls, no points and no rebounds. I hope The Big O can play center, because we'r...

Re: Game #1: Norfolk State - In-Game

I sit in 214 near the students. They made plenty of noise. As far as noise goes, not to sound snarky, but, I felt young going to URI games the past two weeks. I think some of our fans knew James Naismith. It's why they don't stand during introductions. 9-20 free throw shooting in the second half was...

Re: Game #1: Norfolk State - In-Game

Just got home. To me, a disappointing crowd, for Hurley's first game and on a Friday night. Team plays their fannies off, always hustling. Defense is great, with a couple of lapses. Offense? Wow! So many shots going in and out. Horrible free throw shooting, particularly by Nik and Aaman. 9-20. is pr...

The longsleeve one was a big fitting almost jacket. The one underneath had sleeves that went to the elbow. They'd take the first one off after layup drills and shoot around in the short sleeved one. Kind of overkill.
I forgot about those.

OK, as I read it, he's either 22 or is going to turn 22, before or during the season. Re: 2013 NY SG - Jon Severe (Offer)

OK, if Bigby is only here for one season, we have two scholarships for 2014 recruiting. Not counting anyone leaving, which almost always happens. If Hurley can bring in a nice player this year, great. If he wants to hold them for 2014, great. That would give three for 2014. Remember, they went hard ...

Quite the opposite. Bob Hurely preaches what Hoopz said. Be aggressive without fouling. If you're in foul trouble, you can't play aggressively, and therefore hurt the team. Watching this team, if I'm an opposing coach, I'd jam the ball down low all night. Brooks will get some minutes, by default. As...

Love him or hate him, Calipari is amazing.
He takes the best recruits, and gets them to buy into
the team concept.
This can't be easy, since the egos in these kids must be as big as all
outdoors.
Of course, he can also sell that almost all his first five goes in the first round of the NBA draft.

He is very athletic and graceful, but he's also very thin.
I wonder how he'll hold up to the banging underneath the boards, as
the season wears on?
He also has a raw offensive game, which will come along in time.
Bigs develop slower than guards.
