Logic would say there was a reason why Hurley and staff put PG as first priority, to the degree that it almost became a joke.
Look back on the old board and the near majority of players offered were point guards.
As Ace said, Powell has this year to prove himself. Time alone will tell.

His forte is inside play, rebounding and finishing.

He had the single worst game I've ever seen from a URI player.
That game against PC at the Dunk. Martell was atrocious!
PC guys were driving right at him, all day.

I have never in all my decades of watching URI basketball, booed a Ram player.
Refs and coaches are paid to do a job, and are fair targets.
We don't boo our kids at URI.

Not the worst idea. If they can target a top notch two guard in 2014 recruiting, and whatever the best player available after that, that would be fine. If they can get Severe to sign for 2013, fine, too. Hearing original 2 guard talent, Martez Walker might have academic issues. Not sure of the truth...

I see KY wrapped up 3 of the top 5 players. Just no way to compete with that. A coach with his own Lear Jet and palatial dorms for basketball players.
My point on EC is how, once a player commits to an A-10 school, he drops. If EC had declared for Michigan, he'd have risen in the ratings.
