Re: Men's Track wins a-10 title again
I think it would be accurate to say that URI baseball has done more , by itself, without University support , to be a success, than any other URI sport. That is not to diminish crew, tennis, or sailing. It is great that they have a field turf field that was donated, and I would think most other base...

Re: Men's Track wins a-10 title again
Yes, track at URI does not have an outdoor track (which is unbelievable for a State u.), but URI does have one of the best Indoor Tracks (Mackle Field house). No facilities for URI football are even remotely one of the best.

Re: RI 41st in funding/student in public higher ed
What always surprised me it Rhode Island support for K-12 (Primary and Secondary Ed) is among the highest. Most of the money for K-12 is raised at the city and town and property tax level. But not all, as cities like Providence receive a lot of state money. So, in an environment like we have in RI, ...

URI football practice field should have been redone with FieldTurf. Yes, it would have cost maybe $900k more, but they you can uses it and abuse it. The new sod will get worn out. I don't mind Meade being Grass, like Brown Stadium is Grass (very muddy), Brown's two practice files are FieldTurf with ...

Hopefully the roof height is high enough at Ryan Center for a mid-court video screen/scoreboard, if that's what you are talking about. The new Dunk put up that big scoreboard, video screen, but it is not high enough, because the Dunk roof it too low. I have been to two games at the new Dunk, at both...

When we went down by 8 early in 1st half I was saying, maybe we are not on the level of a Pac10 team, but then the ticky tac fouls stopped, we went up , and I said, we belong. That is why it is a hard defeat, because we could have won the game by 5, instead of losing by 3. At this level, you just ne...

However, it was an exciting game to watch, and the crowd in the East Stands were really into it, standing on their seats during big plays at the end of the game. Give the Towson kicker credit, he really nailed that field goal, it was 55 yards and had room to spare.

I think we can get 12,000 on a good weather homecoming or family day with good weather and good team. Well, we knew we would not be competitive against JMU. Even UNH really wasn't , and they played at home. The score looks close because after JMU went up by 3 or 4 TD's against UNH, they eased off, and UNH fought back. JMU most likely is better than Kansas. But take away the Ryan Center, and Mackel f...
