Reading the Uconn boards it sounds like they don't have a need at his position. They are looking for a true center and not a PF. Sounds like he isn't a high priority for them which might provide is the opening to go get em.

I would expect one slot to be left open going into the season as well. This allows us to take a mid year transfer when other teams might not have openings. Iverson being the example from this year as many expect big things from him next year.

St John's must know there is a chance Hurley turns down the offer and it's much better perception wise to get your first choice candidate. Hence why Hurley might mot be the clear cut #1 but we'll see since this is just so early in the process.

It's simple why Smart and Miller aren't mentioned, it's because St John's has zero shot to land them. This isn't a big time opportunity. Now could the right coach turn it into one, sure but it isn't right now.

Love Rod's post, gives me hope that Dan might stay.. I agree on the leverage part, no coach ever takes his name out of considering for another job right away, no benefit to do that.

Hate how coaches can hide behind sources to say if there are interested or not. Can URI not allow St John's to talk with Hurley? Not saying that would be the thing to do but curious what tools they had at their disposal.

And here we go, another off season sweating out whether our coach is leaving. Hopefully Dan is a different breed and stays around here for a while. A lot of positives happening within the program and hopefully that out weighs the money.

Winning a high major conf is worth something to the committee and URI still has a chance to do that. I do believe our best and most realistic chance is winning the A-10 tourney however. Hopefully the matchups fall our way in the tourney.
