Re: Watch URI Hockey vs #1 AZ State FRIDAY 8pm @ Rhody Joes!

Rams lost 5-0 in a game that got real rough at times. Took a lot of penalties, although that wasn't what necessarily killed us, just couldn't generate offense. ASU is a very good team this year, they've sat on top of the ACHA D1 for years but have never taken any hardware... this could be their year...

Nah, the state drink is (ugh) coffee milk. How that beat frozen lemonade is a mystery

Can't speak much on basketball, but I know my college hockey cheers. Few do it better than Cornell, as evidenced by this goalie call:

Re: Watch URI Hockey at the nationals tonight at Rhody Joes!

RAMS WIN! URI stays alive and upsets Lindenwood 4-3! (For all the non-hockey people, this is quite a big deal) Tomorrow night (Friday, March 7th) Rhody takes on #1 Arizona State at 8pm. You can watch the game again at Rhody Joes in Wakefield. Go Rhody!

Watch URI Hockey vs #1 AZ State FRIDAY 8pm @ Rhody Joes!

URI fans interested in watching the game can come down to Rhody Joe's tonight, they will be showing the live stream from the ACHA DI tournament on several screens! #16 Rams face off against #17 Lindenwood in the first round game at 8PM. While the rankings may indicate otherwise, the Lions are an inc...

Re: Disgraceful Local Media Outlet Reaches New Low

I think the article sucks, but I think everyone needs to realize that it is 2014, and any Tom, Dick or Harry can start a local "news" site and write whatever the hell they want. It's the reality of the internet. Nailed it. This article is a hacky hatchet-job trying to be hilarious and wit...

Re: URI Hockey going to Nationals

There are only 39 D1 hockey teams in the country right now. There are a few DII teams that play at the DI level, like Union. Close, it's actually 59 teams in NCAA DI. Still not a huge number, but its big in the northeast and mid-west. As for the vintage of URI Hockey, according to an old "Blue...

So pumped for URI Baseball this year. First game is at Florida Gulf Coast this Friday - think there will be video/radio links here closer to game time: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/fgcu.portal#

HOCKEY: Former Ram tapped as backup goalie for Prov Bruins

Former URI goaltender Paul Kenny '13 was put on the roster Friday for the Providence Bruins road game at the Hartford Wolf Pack. This is the first time a former URI player has worn a sweater for an AHL team. Players from ACHA (national college club league) teams making their way onto professional ro...

Re: Rhody Baseball Receives Preseason Top 25 Votes

Men"s Hockey maybe? Rhode Island has enjoyed a 505-227-46 record in the last 25 years, two ESCHL regular season, two ESCHL Playoff championship and one ACHA National Championship in 2006. Obviously I'm a huge proponent of URI Hockey, want D1 more than anything, but at least we have the Boss to...

HOCKEY: Towson Terribles

Nice showing tonight from the boys in Keaney Blue as they topped the Towson Tigers at the Boss 2-1. Very strange energy in the rink tonight, as two Towson players ended up carted off with head injuries in the second period, one with some serious red fluid left on the ice. I'm not trying to be too fl...

HOCKEY: A steaming hot pile of NJ right in our conference

Viewers of "How I Met Your Mother" are likely to recognize the reference in the post topic. Rhody's away this week, and with no way to follow the games live, I've abandoned a brief and informative primer intended to spark conversation in favor of this long, derisive diatribe. Only god can ...

Re: What is the future of URI football according to Keaney B

Just would like to offer up that even if they did axe FB, there would still be homecoming (just centered around another sport), you could still walk around campus as an alum and enjoy the beautiful fall day, the band, the tailgating, etc. Those things might change a little bit (which I'm not saying ...

Re: What is the future of URI football according to Keaney B

I'm always going to be pushing for D1 hockey, but in no way think killing FB is necessary to achieve that end. Totally agree with Ramulous that something about the football atmosphere seems quintessentially college. That being said, I voted to drop as well. I don't know what kind of alumni support t...

Re: HOCKEY: #17 Navy at #19 URI

Tough to lose in a shoot out, they've been pretty flawless in OT this year. Glad to pick up the split though. Navy's one of those teams that's been highly touted, mostly on the strength of Krysil who is a terrific scorer. Personally I think the Midshipmen may be slightly overrated based on their wea...

HOCKEY: #17 Navy at #19 URI

I was told by staff during the first intermission last Friday that attendance was already at 750, and noticed many groups lining up for entrance well into the second period! This week's tilt will likely draw a smaller crowd, especially since it's the second of three URI Hockey games this season sche...

Re: HOCKEY - Purple Out Friday: URI vs #6 Delaware

Awesome gorhody89, couldn't agree more! Unfortunately some squandered opportunities tonight hurt the team. URI took the lead tonight, scoring early in the second to lead 1-0. They scored again late in the period, but UDel answered back less than 20 seconds later to make it 2-1 going into the second ...

HOCKEY - Purple Out Friday: URI vs #6 Delaware

Probably a tough sell for most people here to see the puck drop on this one, but I highly recommend coming to at least check out the third period after MBB on Friday before you go to the Mews. Proceeds will benefit the Matty Fund ( http://mattyfund.org/event/uri-hockey-purple-out-for-the-matty-fund/...

Re: Moving Up in Hockey

In terms of Atlantic Hockey, URI would be one of the biggest member schools (second after RIT, once UConn moves to HE). From my experience this year I would guess that Friday games at the Boss draw between 200-300 people, and that's without any kind of promotion or support from the athletic departme...

Re: Moving Up in Hockey

Hey all, this is my first post on the forum. The Boss as it is would be more than adequate for Atlantic Hockey (our most realistic D1 conference) play, and would actually not be the smallest in the league. Those who have been to Boss Arena recently will know that it is modest in size, but modern and...
