That would be an awful hire by St Johns. 1 good tourney run and a rather mediocre record over a prolonged period of time. Zero ties to NYC. He’d be a decent hire for DePaul but an awful one for Johnnies.

Syracuse looks for this exact type of kid for middle of their zone. Wouldnt surprise me if they were still interested. Seems like his offensive game never caught up, but strictly for his shot blocking abilities he is a very compelling addition.

Andddddd....Charlie Brown from St. Joe's just declared for the NBA Draft. Right now UMass and St Joe's are competing for the biggest roster overhaul from 1 season to the next. They both will be bad, bad, bad next year. A10 won't have much of a middle, it will be top and bottom heavy.

The league has been much better at trying to match up the top teams and avoid doubling up a Tier 1 team with a bunch of Tier 3 teams. I’m bullish on Martin as well. Needs to work on his ball handling and being more assertive, but in our league a 6’6” athletic wing who can shoot and drive it is a big time matchup problem. If he can develop his ball handling and can slide between the 2 and 3 he will make us hard to guard.

A rim protector and rebounder is a huge game changer to a defensive scheme, allows your guards to pressure the ball and know they have protection in the paint, makes guards second guess dribble drives, that alone can catapult a team.
