Re: The Transfer Carousel -2021
That statement makes zero sense. ZERO. Guarantee of Cox fails here, he will go someone and be HIGHLY paid to be TOP recruiter. I agree with the greater point but not the ALL CAPS words. Is he going to be a top assistant for a program comparable to URI? Maybe that is believable. Don’t see him landin...

Re: The Transfer Carousel -2021
That's what it is about Cox. He can get talent here because he's a great recruiter and a good guy. He hasn't shown that he can coach them once they get here. And I think, with another sukkfest of a season, people will stop saying he's a great recruiter...my guess is that without winning, that dries...

Re: 2021-22 Schedule (top post is current)
Thorr imo will not wait much longer for URI to contend for an NCAA berth. Cox's leash has almost reached it's end. For those of us who have been following this program for a long time, when we have hired coaches, success either follows very soon after those hires, or it doesn't at all. Several exam...

Re: The Transfer Carousel -2021
The "good old days" of URI BB, as infrequent as they were, may become our only memories of success going forward, sad to say. There will always be a few mid majors who will flourish [at least occasionally] in the future, but that number will continue to diminish...and we may never be one ...

Re: Assistant Coach Opening in Men's Basketball
IMHO the scouting failure and open admission for UMass without Mitchell was a fireable offense. You had a 3rd year head coach, who has been at major college programs for over 2 decades, in charge of a legitimate D1 basketball program in a multi-bid conference, not prepare for (and admit to) the bes...

Re: Assistant Coach Opening in Men's Basketball
Cox needs to step back as lead recruiter and be the closer as head coach. This allows him to do that with Bozeman's DMV connections. I was not a Sutton fan so I'm hoping this is an upgrade. Todd does add a toughness to the staff. What exactly do you mean by Bozeman adds "toughness" to the...

Every team in America lost kids. Some kids even started at P5’s. This transfer cannot be an indictment on anyone, but the nature of today’s NCAA. Agreed. This was not Sutton's decision. He was a good representative of the university and a nice guy. But he didn't provide Cox with the veteran support that Cox needed. I don't think so. So you honestly think 100% of the coaching staff is returning next year? I would agree with what Stephen said above. I don't want to assume 100% of the staff is returning. Shep is great at the 2. We need a point guard who is pass first, assist first. Like Dowtin. We all knew he was gone. He had been saying this was his last year here when he announced he was returning last year. No ill will, but I’ve felt he’s lost us more games than he’s won for us. Great kid and solid ball player, but him moving on was best for all parties involved.
