Re: Big East - Basketball Only Schools Leaving?
this math makes little to no sense, especially in a tough economy. if someone convinces fox to pay this amount they should be anointed king of the basketball world. Agree totally. I still don't get where these schools can demand so much, where there is more than casual interest. Like its been said ...

Saw him once, impressed though competition wasn't great. Agree he looks like a perfect fit, and being in RI, probably a bit under the radar.

Re: Game Thread - Southern Methodist vs. URI
The view from 205 1. Might have been the best overall game in awhile, both offense and defense. 2. Andre, took over the offense in the first half when we had players in foul trouble. 3. Powell - outstanding 4. Although X struggled from the outside, penetration to the hoop got us going in the second...

I would like to see average attendance and tv ratings when you have games between these 7 teams. Especially if you take away Marquette and Villanova.

Re: Big East - Basketball Only Schools Leaving?
Agree RF1, well put. The big east 7 have a critical choice coming up. No doubt St Johns, Gtown and Nova in particular have big east type players, and PC certainly is on the upswing and has a host of highly rated guys sitting out. Do they decide to fly on their own and take advantage of current teams...

Re: Big East - Basketball Only Schools Leaving?
Lets face it, college sports as a whole in the northeast is not big. It's not The mid Atlantic, Indiana or Kentucky. How much interest nationally is there really in a Seton Hall - PC game or SH - DePaul? The big markets mean a lot more when you throw in Syracuse, Louisville, ND or Pitt. When Gavitt...

Re: Big East - Basketball Only Schools Leaving?
Two: Who cares about on-campus arenas? Big East for the most part plays in arenas. Those arenas might not always draw the best, but thats the way the conference is for the Nice facilities and on campus arenas mean something to recruits. And good recruits means winning. Winning is the bottom line. Ta...

Re: Big East - Basketball Only Schools Leaving?
Georgetown won a national championship in 1984 and Yale was nationally ranked in football in 1968. Different time, different era. They won with the power of the original big east, not the current configuration. Besides Villanova, do any of these schools even have decent on campus arenas? St Johns, ...

Bar with you on the progression of Hare. And it's coming quickly. Obviously he needs to bulk up, but there he definitely has a nice skill set and is gaining confidence with each game as well.

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
This one was the first Coach Hurley URI win; and feel good win for this group of players faced with much chance for heads down; yet, they still dig in make the plays when needed against a less than NCAA team to grab a win. This I would suggest this is one of those few we/ll get as a W, especially o...

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
Hope I can post this without it becoming a distraction; it really is a nice gesture. Billy is a good kid. Not surprised at all. Gio, I think there is a little bit of a disconnect here. I don't think anyone is being critical of the coaching or feels that this team isn't living up to expectations. I ...

Given they will find a way to lose? This is getting annoying? Extremely painful bunch to watch? I have little faith? This team has given us plenty of reasons to doubt? I will let this go, but TP or anyone, please tell me what you believe to be the tone of these posts? Negatives or postiives? Not trying to pick a fight, but reality. If you loved Baron move on, he was pathetic. Coach Hurley is here now. No not Coach Wooden, but damn good. Another loss looks to be in...

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
I agree with RF1, and nobody believes more in the Hurleys than I do. What he is saying is not in anyway supportive of Baron (I don't even really get how it could be taken that way, honestly). It isn't unsupportive of Hurley on any level, either. Its just an acknowledgment that this team is really g...

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
Baron boy RF 1 , no doubt. But lets not go there, just jump on Hurley band wagon. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of basketball doesn't expect Hurley and staff to being winning the a 10 even in 2 or 3 years, but I will give you a pass on that. Look at what is happening in a short period of time ...

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
I guess you don't like reality. This team this year is bad and it will lose plenty more games. I am just stating the truth. This season will be very painful. Dan Hurley can't work miracles. There is just not enough talent, basketball smarts, and experience. Better days unfortunately won't start unt...

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
Bunch of doubting thomases here tonight This team has given us plenty of reasons to doubt. Ridiculous comment again. 5 games into a new era with a real coach, left in a worse situation than Lord Baron inherited and playing a solid schedule. If you are already doubting, you should follow Mr .500 and...

Re: Game #6: Auburn University
This team just learned a valuable lesson, how to win. And will take it with them. A challenged team talent wise, but not heart wise and coaching wise. Playing teams like S. Hall and Auburn, though weak bcs teams, well and competing. No more getting embarrassed by horrible Nebraska teams, or losing t...

Thanks Rod, seriously comparing Holton to Munford.? Munford clearly has a nice stroke, just hasn't got it going or hit his comfort level yet. Holton, though a talented player, obviously those talents didn't include ANY type of perimeter play. Kid was just an absolutely awful shooter from day 1, but ...

Mr Hurley can coach and run a program, just a matter of time. Forget w's and l's this year, just watch the team play.
