ODU is a good program and close to home. It should work out for him. I think he will be a good player. Sorry to see him go. I heard last week that he transferred to be closer to home and not over playing time. ODU is a 3 hour drive (180 miles) from his home town. It doesn’t seem very close but obvi...

I think the twins will apply for a waiver - and have a shot to get it. This is why we do need to find a grad transfer Big as a backup plan, but it will be tough to get a good one that will want to be a backup plan. I don’t expect the rule to be effective this summer because there will be 1000 kids ...

Top 10 makes more sense when there is a ton of time between then and your decision. But if you're a transfer or the decision is around the corner, it's more of a problem. Transfers should have learned enough during their time in school to know exactly what they are looking for. Top 5 at most. He is...

This is a good point. Think of the recruits that announce a commitment to URI that hadn’t been the focus of reports or speculation. Cox keeps the staff’s actions private.

Interesting on transfers. This relates to the Mitchells. It was mentioned in their recruiting thread that they stayed in school at Maryland for the full year. This is why. Nobody knows what's going to happen.....but those dates make sense for now...they needed to extend it on the back end. I don't have the answers, but it makes sense that this new NCAA transfer rule is something that can be exploited, like a window left ajar, that could be closed after a season or two IF it ever goes into effect. If Cox thinks he can exploit it, let him. Clearly, the twins signing helped with the Mal...

This happens all the time in recruiting at all schools. It is part of the process that is understandable by the coaches, recruits and parents. Makhi was voted defensive player of the year in the UA AAU. He led that team to the UA Championship in Vegas. He had the best Tournament. I believe that team 4-5 P5 players and Mekhi Long was the 6th man for the Summer session.

I seem to recall Dayton playing more than 5 players last year. Pushing the decision on the transfer rule back 2 months will cause MANY schools to hold off their decisions regarding who to sign. Lots of kids will be left twisting in the wind. The downside of recruiting has to be telling a kid you are withdrawing the offer. The flip side of recruiting a kid for years only to have another school swoop in at the end and sign him.
