Re: Who is Archie Miller?
Archie's success at Dayton was predicated on his recruiting a PG who turned out to be the catalyst for his NCAA tourney success. So far, that hasn't come close to happening here. Now if Hammond leaves, there goes his best recruit at the position since S. Smith according to him. Like has been said, s...

I knew Dan was gone 2 months before it was announced. Talked to several big UConn boosters and they told me it was a 99% done deal. Yes we raised our offer big time at the last minute, and it surprised Dan, but he wasnt going to change his mind at the last minute no matter what he said about it. We ...

Being a coach in this environment has to be a nightmare.
Recruiting has to be year round.
I dont think this is sustainable.

Someday when we are good, our turnover will be less.

Being a state school is a pain in the ass when it comes to the asst contracts.
Even when we hire a replacement the new hire isnt technically employed here until July 1st.
The new hire can work here before then, just he's not under contract until then.

You have to treat your players the same.
If one player is allowed to get away with something that the others aren't, that can be a problem.
That could be a reason, just speculating.

Food for thought:
Hurley can be a hard ass. Yet his players will run through a wall for him and give 100% effort.
Archie can be a hard ass. But his players wont give 100% effort and would rather run away to another program.
So what's the deal? One commands respect, the other doesn't get it.

Well it looks like Archie will have to recruit an assistant coach along with players.
Maybe he can find an assistant who can bring a player or 2 with him.

With us openly recruiting PG's, it's now obviousl to me also.
Maybe this will work out for us in the long run, in the short run not so much.

Going after better talent that already has had good D1 mid major experience.
That's the way to go.
The NIL fund must be getting big enough to go after these types of players.
Now for the hard part.

Lack of effort and ability combined.

If not I doubt Archie will change, that's a problem.

With the news that Clemson is also sueing to get out of the ACC, it's clear imo that they and Florida St will end up in the SEC.
Just a matter of time.
If UConn wants to save their FB program they will then need to join the ACC, for all sports.
If they are invited of course.

Every top team has stumbled a few times this season.
Even UConn threw in a stinker against Creighton.
I expect multiple upsets. The ones who are predicting all 4 one seeds to make the FF are definitely smoking something good.

In other words, do a lot better job recruiting that has been done so far, save for Hammond.
