If you are looking to put together the best possible conference do you look at just the last few years results or do you look at what the school has done most recent? Which A10 team has the only top 100 recruit for the entire league so far in this recruiting class? Which A10 team has 2 of the top 25...

Only a moron would not consider URI one of the top programs (not top 3-4 yet) when looking at the A10. Notice I said program not team...the team needs work right now...but the program has all the pieces you are looking for.

My point is why are we letting those 7 set the market and decisions on the A10s future. We should break off and start from scratch just like them. The top 7-10 of the A10 is just as good as the BE7...maybe even better.

The C7 has chosen to stick together to get the best deal possible (as well as keep their automatic bid). That is exactly what I was saying...rethink everything. The A10 is not sacred...why don't we become the aggressor? The only reason those 7 schools are staying together is to maintain their automatic bid to the NCAA tourney...you need a minimum of 7 schools who have been together a certain #of years ...

the Rams won 20 games in 2010-2011 and had an RPI around 100 (+-). I would just edit your comment about URI being a bad game for you the last 3 years.

Everyone knows which schools have not been able to make it in the A10 for various reasons: LaSalle, Duquesne, Fordham and to a lesser extent St Bonnies. We should never have let Duquesne back in.

Why don't the top 10 A10 teams break away form the A10 and start from scratch? Fight fire with fire. Shop a deal that would include adding Marquette, G'town, 'Nova and one of the NY teams for the market.

That's not what this is about...it's about how good are the TBN7 actually...fact vs fiction. Fact the current A10 is better. Not last years A10 vs last years BE. The new conference will be a nice BB conference...no doubt. The quality is basically the A10 minus the 3 crap teams + Marquette, G'Town and 'Nova. Maybe timing is everything as you say. Because by this logic...you lose your best teams and your conference is now worth more seems backwards. If this is in fact the new reality...then we should thank the new BE if this happens....we can probably renegotiate our contract for more than $1.5 per schoo...

what ever the new composition of the A10 is, it should not include LaSalle, Duquesne and Fordham. That would be addition by subtraction.

I agree. But Butler and X have been successful as the underdog. G'town has had all the advantages in the world-same with all the C7 teams. I am expecting a drop off for all of them, as they get used to not being in a power conference. In a way, that is why they need Butler and X, for them it improve...
