A big part of the problem for UMass will be that they won't be able to recruit higher quality A-10 type players like they do now. So it's not like they are going to be a big fish in a little pond. Plus Martin will probably leave. If it wasn't UMass I would feel bad for them.

I mean most often if you have a good coach, he or she can take not-so-great players and coach them to get better over the course of a season. Hard work ethic, defensive intensity, define rolls, no quit, etc. This is like the opposite, which is concerning to me.

There's no reason URI shouldn't be consistently competitive in the A10. If Miller can't connect with the players, student body, ticket holders, loyal fans, VIPs, etc., etc. - he is not the guy. Maybe URI's philosophy should be one of a permanent stepping stone school. Bring in younger coaching talen...
