Re: $42 million Meade Stadium Replacement

Need a new Stadium with football offices, Hydro training pools, restaurant. Move the dumpy physical plant eye sore, build a new Stadium, do a fund raising like we do for Ryan Center almost 25 years ago.

Also, why put money into a field that is almost the lowest point on campus and prone to flooding?

I remember maybe not even 10 years ago when Projo used to have a prediction of Saturday football games. They not only covered RI but Ivy League and Patriot. NYT would recap not just FBS games but FCS. NYT would cover Lehigh, Lafayette, Fordham, and once and a while RI.

How do we get up to the UNH level?
I suppose UConn and UMass have a lot more state support than URI. UNH does bot get much state support.

Projo is just an extension of USA Today and a Progressive Rag. Every now and then Projo does some investigative journalism on the corruption in the State of RI, but not very often now. Even when the Letters to the Editors started to swing anti-Biden, Projo just eliminated them except for Saturday an...

I'm not sure I am in favor of this. Maybe CAA is worried Deleware might leave and we need teams.
The football conference was a lot better when we had some MA teams, UMass, BU, and Northeastern.

Re: Once in 100 Year Opportunity - Think Big

I berm would be great, you can get to 15,000. At least you have room to expand. The current location of Meade is and will always be confined by the small space of that area and White Horn Creek.

Once in 100 Year Opportunity - Think Big

This is a Once in a 100-year opportunity to build a new real stadium. URI should not put money into Meade, and the area that is now too small, jammed in between the Ryan Center on one side and White Horn Creek on the other side, a field that is too small for soccer and really too small for football ...

Re: RI State Funding and URI Facilities

The State Budget has gone from $3 billion to $13 Billion in 20 years.
Double NH, which has 300k more people, and Double Nebraska
Per Capita is almost double for Massachusetts. That's what happens when you have Regressives running the state.

I am in favor of a greenhouse but using prime farm land which is some of the best in RI and putting this structure on it is awful. Yes, soccer players would rather play on grass. Many colleges do use Field Turf for Soccer.
If you make able to host football and soccer available, there could be soccer tournaments held there, maybe A-10,
Also maybe concerts in the summer.

Re: MASSIVE NEWS, MEADE RENOVATION COMING

As much as Meade had history, the area is too small. They boxed in the Meade Stadium with the building of the Ryan Center. I like the idea, move the Stadium to the cow barns area, those corrugated buildings are in bad shape anyway. You have to think big. Make the stadium able to hold soccer and foot...

I like option #2. It would be good to make the press box area big enough to hold functions in a planned room there somewhere, but I guess that's too much to ask for. Also football offices, video room, conference room. These plans Options #1 and #2 are the bare minimums plans, not really knock-your-s...

Fans were leaving early with about 2 minutes to go and St. Johns with a big lead at the XL Center
It was the 1st time St. Johns beat UConn at the XL Center since 1988.
I think Gampel has a bigger home-court advantage.
