Re: New A10 - URI Basketball's Conference Future
Have you seen the kid play? First team all met in DC, which has better hoops then Baltimore. Went to states 3 times, out playing Aquile Carr. Committed early to Loyola, which is why he isn't ranked by many of the sites. When he de-committed, Missour and UMD were after him. Lavon Long can go too, but...

Re: '13 TN SG Matthew Butler (URI - Signed LOI)
Was he planning to go the JUCO route to increase his looks, or was he waiting on a late arriving test score? I know some guys who wait up until April or May for a test score. It seems strange that he was waiting for looks if he already had offers from other A-10 teams. Either way, seems like a solid...

Re: New A10 - URI Basketball's Conference Future
Patsos is up at Siena. The guy seems nuts, but he wins. They are bringing in the Maryland High School player of the year, Marquis Wright and a big wing named Lavon Long. They also have two athletic 6'8''/6'9'' bigs coming in too. I think he will have the ship turned around in no time.

Re: '14 NY PF - D.J. Foreman
I think the reason you would get the kid now (rather than sending him to prep) is so that he could be officially enrolled, rather than just "committed," having a great prep year, and then losing him to a bigger school. Another benefit to bringing him on is incorporating him into the team ...

ESPN re-did their evaluation system last year. A 90 from 4 years ago is different from a 90 now. What is interesting is that Rivals said that Ryan had good hands. Check it out... "Brooks, who plays at Holy Spirit High School in New Jersey, is a long forward with good bounce, good hands and ooze...

And Olynyk is leaving with eligibility left. If he doesn't red shirt, and rides the pine in 11-12 you are in the same situation. He would be going off to the NBA anyway. If for some reason you like a kid who isn't ready, I get stashing them at a prep school. If we can take a non-qualifier who has to...

I really hate the idea of red shirting anyone. Has anyone seen the latest trend in basketball? It's guys like Tarik Black. If a guy has graduated, they can transfer without penalty. So lets say he (or anyone for that matter, even a guy Blake Vedder for example) comes in and red shirts. If he commits...

Don't forget, Eddie Jordan spent last year coaching DC Assaults 17u team with guys like Nate Britt, Melo Trimble, Roddy Peters and Junior Etou. Ellie LeMaire didn't like the double headers. When I spoke to her about keeping Tom Penders after the Sweet 16 run, she said,"I don't ever want to be a part of a program, where winning is top priority." I'm seldom at a loss for words, but that statement did it for me. She would have loved...

What was amazing about Jon Clark, was that both his rebounds and points per game (as did his steals) decreased every single year! I don't know if I have ever seen that before. His best statistical year was his freshman year. Wasn't he a 4 star recruit? http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/rhode-i...

Elite is a common term used by the high level basketball kids. Look into the Hoop Group Elite camps. When I am out at events, I see a ton of kids wearing shirts that say things like "Be Elite" that they got from Hoop Group.

Was Reischel a 2 or a 3 in high school. If Reischel is growing, now maybe he will be defending a 3 instead of a 2, which would make the quickness issue not as big of a factor. There are plenty of guys that can lock down 3's, but struggle to defend the quicker 2 guards.

It was either Coach Carr or X who said in the post-game interview with Steve and Don that the final play was to get the ball to either X or MikeP going up court with a full head of steam. Rod, I think Abu mentioned Powell because he thought Powell might catch the in bounds and push the ball up the floor. A lot of times with that much time on the clock, it isn't the guy that catches the inbound pass that shoots the ball. The ball is typically raced up court, the ball handler tries to ...

Two bad possessions coming out of time outs in that final minute. You could see that Coach knew the second possession was going to hell as he just stood there with his hands on his head after his realized his yelling wasn't working.

Nik has been solid these last two minutes. Makes a lay up saving block when recovering after he stepped up to help and stop ball penetration. He then grabs a big time offensive rebound and then draws a charge after we failed to score after his offensive rebound.

Gw has a committment from 6'1'' combo guard Nigel Johnson from Riverdale Baptist and a 6'3'' SG Nick Griffin from Magruder High School. Having seen all three play multiple times, I would be surprised if they take on Severe, Johnson and Griffin all in the same class.
