Re: Reports: Preston Murphy to Join BC staff as Assistant Co
I have been asked to post the below message from the one and only Godfather (B.T.). I have spent a good part of the last three days with Preston and I have watched him agonize over this process. He has not slept or eaten much, and neither have I. We as fans can and do assume many things, and often ...

Re: Reports: Preston Murphy to Join BC staff as Assistant Co
If Preston was worth $200,000 to the program then why wasn't he being paid that? It's too late to show the $ when an employee has other offers. I'd say Thorr and Hurley misread the situation when they didn't give Preston a better deal when they promoted him. That said, I think this is a bump in the ...

Re: Reports: Preston Murphy to Join BC staff as Assistant Co
Hurley would become the youngest coach ever to have a coach in waiting next to him. Naming a coach in waiting is an acknowledgement that the head coach won't be around much longer -- in other words, nearing retirement. In this case, it would be an acknowledgement that if Hurley has any success he's ...

The reaction of some here is as embarrassing and short sighted as anything I've ever seen. All hiring has to be approved by the affirmative action people at URI ... I don't think they're going to allow an all-white staff for basketball, and I'm sure Thorr knows that.

As much as losing Murphy hurts future recruits, that loss can be lessened with a good hire. My worry is with the current players. Garrett must feel misled (how can he trust the staff). Re: Preston Murphy to Join BC staff as Assistant Coach
Since the new coach will most likely have zero impact on '14 recruiting, I'm guessing there's no rush to make this hire. Coaches are paid on the state's fiscal year, which begins June 1. Look for an announcement late May. Preston's strengths were identifying players and getting involved with them. ...

Honestly, Dan Hurley's gotta REALLY be questioning a lot about this little rebuilding program that's turned into a massive, slow undertaking here at Rhode Island. I think Hurley adds two more guards/wings. I think he's done recruiting big guys unless Hare decides not to come back or can't come back. If Hare is a late scratch, he can add Green. No hurry with a kid that's already picked a prep school. Hurley wants to play a lot of 3-guard lineups so he'd rather...

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
The game changed last year when they changed the rules on fouls; made it even more of a guards' game than it already was. You need guards who can defend and guards who can break their opponent down off the dribble. It's why Hurley is trying to add more guards, even one of them a PG. Like you can't h...

If you're going after a scorer, why not Kanayo Obi-Rapu? He's 6'4", handles the ball like Earl Monroe, and shoots at a higher percentage. Garrett is 5'11" and Flomo is 6'1". Can't see playing both of them at once. At 6'1", he's small for a SG. Plus, we have Biggie for two more y...

Since we know he's visiting Western Ky., the question to the answer "Rhode Island & Western Kentucky," had to be either what schools will you be visiting or what schools are you considering. I don't like reading between the lines on Twitter, but that seems pretty safe to me.

, Flomo, a 6-1 guard, scored at will over his final 19 games. He scored at least 21 points in 18 straight games, including at least 30 in 10 of those games.
