Gen is smart enough to enjoy what he has. If he switched he'd to the men's team, he'd be expected to replicate his insane success. Maybe he could. But a 25 win season would be treated as a disappointment.

Randy was our version of a hockey goon. He was 6-9 and maybe 275. He split time early on with Vic soares. Didn't play as much after Irving Chatman arrived. You know how today's giants like to fire from the three point line. Randy was the opposite of that.

Munford was a long shot to make the NBA. Hare might be the all time longshot. Sad, really. The kid had a chance to be something and just didn't seem to care, for whatever reason. Imagi me putting Munford's heart in Hare's body.

UCONN is a top tier program. Top coaches will line up. New England is not going to go wild over URI because UCONN has an off year.

It really is encouraging. The D League is the dregs. And most players don't get to the NBA. X could have gone to Europe but stuck it out.

URI shoukd recruit a Connie Hawkins type? Sure, they're everywhere.
Some would tell you Hawkins was a shell by the time he got to the NBA, that his be test years were in the ABA ...very little captured on film.

Similarly, the Celtics signed John Holland to a contract. He graduated from BY in 2011 and has knocked around Europe since then. Played recently in the D League.

Technically, URI is still a state school. But Rhode Island is terrible on higher ed. And most residents don't care. They hate funding URI. I hear it a lot, sadly.

This gets silly. The Big East is still a quality conference. It will never be what it was one the 1980s. It can't be. The A-10 does OK for itself ut is not of the same caliber. That's just the way it is.

What an underdog story. He had a very good short career at URI and then to the D League ... the place of 10 hour bus rides, empty arenas and crap pay. Now his ship has come in.

People keep wanting Geno to move to a men's team. Why would he?. Anything he does would seem disappointing compared to his UCONN career.
He's comfortable coaching women and doesn't have to worry about players bailing after a season.

These CFL contracts are becoming the norm. We suffered through one. At schools lime PC and URI, administrators have to sweeten the pot when bigger schools sniff around their coaches. These contracts make coaches unfireable. Who's to say Cooley is as successful six years from now? It's a risk for the...
